I currently own a 55 plate and a 07 plate gti. The 55 plate seems faster and better to respond and let's off a nice dump, the 07 plate doesn't make a dump at all. Is this a factory change or a broken dv?
I read a lot of people having dv trouble but also people saying the engines are diffenernt also.
Any advice would be good.

there was a revision to the dump valve at some point, but i'm not sure when.
make a comparison like the one you have isn't always massively helpful as the car "learns" the driving style of the driver and responds to it. when i'm driving miss daisy my car reacts differently compared with when i'm pressing on. there probably are engine differences - small changes as they learn the foibles of the engine - and a few different engine codes but the engine wasn't really "facelifted" until the 2nd facelift of the Audi A3 came out. this is reflected in the performance stats. peak torque comes in a tad earler (100rpm to be exact).
for the Golf Mk6 they dropped the engine all together for a completely new design.

Yeh I understand that but both cars have the same engine and the 07 plate makes no sound of any kind of dump so imagen that the dump valve is goosed? Anybody no a rough price for a new one?

05 cars had one of the first DV valves which made a nice loud noise when you change gear or ease off the accelerator. I changed mine when I had it remapped to ensure it didn't fail, I lost the lovely noise when I changed. I'd love to get it back.
Guys, any way to add some dump valve noise (not chavvy, just not almost silent)?
-
Cheers winrya that was helpfull.
Is there any chance on putting the louder valve on the 07 plate car? Also is there any checks apart from a vag com to see if its working or not?

if you're going to map the car there's no point in changing it for the old DV as they are the diaphragm type and prone to failure with high boost pressures. this is one of the reasons why the DV was revised for the new piston type valve
-
It was only the early diaphragm typre valves that do the little sneeze. The newer diaphragm valves and piston valves are silent.

Can anyone tell me what the indications would be if my dv stopped working or was torn,i own a ko3 gti mk5 on the 07 plate it never has gave a woosh noise even before i mapped it any help would be most appreciated thank you in advance

my 2008 GTI emits a prominent 'tsss' when the window's down, all standard  not that I'm complaining!
