How do you guys do it? Does this service come as part of your price plan? If not is it expensive and how easy is it to do? I've got an iPad2 and wanted to do this when out of the house as I only have the wifi version. Thanks for any replys :happy2:

Iphone 3/4?
Its going to be on the 4s which I presume will be the same as the 4 with regards to tethering?
-
Has to be part of price plan - vodafone allow it, as do O2 if you have the data bolt-on. 3 apparently allow it too.
-
Thanks, so it is part of the price plan on vodafone? I'm currently on O2 but moving to vodafone for the 4s.
-
Apparently I'm wrong: clicky (http://www.vodafone.co.uk/brands/iphone/tethering-your-iphone/index.htm)
In the first paragraph, they say you can use your data allowance, but then later says it's charged separately.
I'm currently on O2 with my 3GS and plan to move to Vodafone because of coverage issues. No idea what 3G is like with vodafone.
-
It appears to be part of all the new 4S contracts, or new SIM only plans from Three.
I dont have tethering as part of my existing O2 contract. I would have to pay for it separately as per Stealthwolfs post above.
-
I have to pay tethering charges on o2
Disgusting considering the data's included with the bloody contract anyway.

O2 have included tethering as part of their new contracts.
-
It seems a bit of a joke that you have to pay for it even though you have a data allowance on your contract. If you go over that allowance then that's fair enough. It's not as if your getting anything extra viewing on an iPad or similar device as apposed to your phone.

Thanks for the help. I hope that is the case for vodafone (fingers crossed!) :happy2:

It is wasy to do - get tethering enable and then setup the personal hotspot, you can connect 2 devices to it - I've used it on my wifi ipad2 via iP4 - tethering cost a couple of quid a month to have enabled I seem to remember (Orange)
-
I use MyWi on my iPhone if i need internet on my iPad when out, all free and no cost :happy2: (Jailbroken iphone though)

Haha Android let's you do it with no problems!

:signLOL:
Yeh but unfortunately that means you have to own an Android :signLOL:
-
What like most of the people who like to make changes to their phone without jail breaking?
I have owned both and I can tell you now there is nothing in it!
If you can use a computer you can use an android!
That's ok you can pay for your bolt on if you like!
Oh an my phone was free, more powerful, cheaper per month by ten pounds and.......I can wireless hotspot tether my iPad!
Not an Apple hater therefore!
MacBook Pro too!
-
Just a shame Android is a total POS then. Yes, i have been living with an Android phone daily for the past 6 months. :happy2:

iPhones and iPads are for people who don't know how to use computers :signLOL:
As funny as all this is can we keep on topic and lets not let it turn into my commodore is better than your Amstrad debate.

Sorry :ashamed:
I didn't start it I was just saying you can already do it on Android with no charges.
Maybe I shouldn't have put 'haha' :ashamed:
