Title: FAO Greenouse/Michael Knight/The Hoff
Post by: bobotheclown on November 09, 2008, 10:39:57 pm
Greenouse, here is the animation you wanted. Did it in a mixture of Apple Motion and Photoshop CS3. Apple Motion is similar to Adobe After Effects, if anyone is interested.

Sure can. Though it's more to do with After Effects/Apple Motion than Photoshop. I'll do one for After Effects as that is probably more popular than Apple Motion.

A quick explanation:
1) I created the red dot as a PSD file (transparent background)
2) animated it around the wheel using keyframes in Apple Motion, though you can do the same in ADobe After Effects.
3) I then exported the file to a Quicktime Mov file and then imported the Mov file into Photoshop CS3 as an animation (FILE-IMPORT) and then saved it as an animted GIF.

If you were doing it in Adobe After Effects you can export it as an animated GIF directly from After Effects.

I will do a write up with screen shots when I get a moment.

According to Adobe's website it is included in the "Production Premium" bundle and also the Master Collection (which is basically all their programmes bundled into one very expensive, but handy box).

It is quite expensive just to make a glowing signature. Traditionally it is designed for post production video, e.g. end/opening credits, special effects, that sort of stuff.

I'm sure you can download a "trial" version of the software from the internet somewhere

Awesome thanks.

I will take a look around for a similar program. Adobe has this habit of costing me fortunes...
