As the prices of these cars have seemed to plummet just now as things maybe just aren't selling.. Do you think the price will level out, keep going down, or go back up?
More so for my own circumstances, 05 plate Gti, 59k (2.5k in last 7 months so not going up very fast) And very well maintained.
Think of selling up cause of lack of use but just don't want too loose a load of money.
Whats your thoughts and anyone desperate for a laser blue 3dr?!!
-
i think part of the reason they've dropped so sharply is because of the availability of reasonably priced Mk6s. the price will level off.
-
The reason there dropping so quick is the second hand car Market is so flat nothing is selling and in a mad ditch attempt to sell vehicles to the small amount of people buying the sellers are slashing prices, once the market picks up prices will level out
-
Think the MK5 GTI's will be worth around £6k for an 05 one for some time.
A year after I got mine for £10k, they dropped to around £8K, then 12 months later to £7k.
There is a lot of car for the money, so can't see them dropping too quickly.
-
The only way that a mk5 gti 2005 could come close to being worth 6k is if its got tht tarten intierior and 100k on the clock and in shoddy condition. You will be looking around 7500 to 8800 with 50k on the clock .
-
It's because people are desperate to sell it brings down the value of the other cars.
-
I wouldn't rush to sell at the moment, I was toying with the idea a couple of months back but was getting silly offers so I'm going to hang onto it for another year or so. The prices will settle out soon enough unfortunately a lot of people are willing to let their cars go cheap.
-
6k? is for selling to dealers or private?
What prices have you had and where from?

Prices definately wont go up. But they will level off in the next 6 to 12 months. Most people dont want petrol cars when prices at the pump are at record highs. That has had an impact on the value of our cars.
-
Yeah maybe won't go up, but hope they don't go down anymore. Don't think selling is on the cards at the current climate. Really hope mine isn't worth 6k (which i believe it isn't!) Would rather burn it out than sell it for that :stupid:

i have been tracking the price of red gtis for a while and this is my PERSONAL opinion on the pricing
age 2005...
30>50k miles cloth seats max 8200
55+ miles clothes seats max 7400
30>50k miles leather seats max 9000
55k+ miles leather seats max 8500
p/s i have been tracking this price a lot because im trying to shift a red gti 2005 atm
and the ones that are selling for 6k-7k are 90-110k on the clock with cloth seats and a trerrible spec
however im selling mine and apart from being offerd tuns of part eXs nobody is coming forward with ca$$$hhh
But as ive not sold my car atm maybe i no nothing :innocent: :fighting:
-
I think i agree with mano on those prices
I got a red 2006 GTi done 47k, DSG, cloth, winter pack and highline, so pretty good spec. I would imagine 8k for mine, but dealers are offering 6.5k for part ex. Think i might shop around to get a better price, or do you think thats a good price for part ex?
What do you think?
Id probs sell mine if someone offered me around 7.5k.

-
You are right! I spent alot more but have a vw warranty which has paid off so far... will not when i sell it though. Bought it for piece of mind though! Im still almost a grand up from that :pomppomp:
-
Oh yeah and RED is the worst colour! Sorry! :popcornsoda: :booty:

it does shock me how cheap some cars are going for nowadays. when i bought my 2.0T last year (see sig) i chopped in a 2005/54 A3 1.6 Sport. had a couple of nifty extras - tiptronic, 6CDC, arm rest, BOSE, auto lights, rear parking sensors but it had 70k miles on it and was looking fairly tired (stone chips, keyed down the side, one fog light was cracked). it did have new tyres and brakes though. a MAIN DEALER gave me £6k for it! some of you guys are trying to shift your very well cared for GTIs for not much more than that! beggars belief...

What cars are 'For Sale' for and what they actually sell for are two completely different things.....
