Went to check the oil today and the bonnet won't open, only bought the car today, it's been stood for 6 months. What's the best way to open please?
Cheers,
Mat

Had simular issue myself (last golf) sticky bonnet catch. I believe its a common thing.
Opening, I gently pulled and pushed the bonnet opener while some carfully applied pressure to the bonnet.
But when you do get it open get plenty of spray in the bonnet catch, keep working it. I was also told to drop the bonnet from about a foot to work the catch.

Often happens to mine, the latch mechanism seems to seize so dowse it with a good penetrant fluid now and again.
-
Pull bonnet cable, lift bonnet as far as it will go and use a thick screwdriver (or similar object) to push the catch aside (left i think)and it will come up... then as the guys above have said...lube the old girl up! :signLOL:

A new bonnet catch is only about £21.78 from the dealers. My freind had a new one last week,
