ORIGINAL POST
Popped over to Motech (http://www.motechperformance.co.uk/) today for a stage 1 map. Didnt bother with a rolling road before or after but the car was checked and data logged and all fine with boost and fuelling. Their stage 1 gives the GTI about 250-255bhp.
Drives so much nicer now. Obviously 2nd and 3rd are insane but one thing I really wanted was better performance in 6th on the motorway.
Did a few timed runs on the way over to have the map. 70-90mph on a flat bit of road. Tested 3 times and each time was around 8.5 seconds. Tested after the map and it was down to 5.3 seconds (each test was within .2 which im guessing was my different reaction times pressing the stopwatch :) )
Anyway... This is how the GTI should have felt from the start. :driver:
I'd say anyone with a gti should give Mike a call and get over there sharpish :)
Exhaust goes on tomorrow and then it will sound like a GTI should as well :happy2:

Awesome, Stage 1 really opens the GTI up to its potential without stressing the engine to much.

where abouts are they based mate?
i've been looking for a stage 1 or stage 1.5 for my GTi. I've looked at R-Tech in liechester but no answers the dam phone! they have good results i hear and there pretty cheap too, what do motech charge and can they do a health check and all that before and after?

They are Northampton but they do travel a small distance . http://www.motechperformance.co.uk/
Yes he can do a vagcom sweep and data log before if required although I had already done this myself when I bought the car.. but he came in the car and did one after to make sure it was achieving the requested boost and the temps and fuelling was all ok.
The advertised price is £299 but mention your from here and I recommended you and I'm sure he will sort you out a bit of a deal.

thanks i'll give them a look
Joe.

Safe to say this review is now null and void and I no longer recommend Motech.
