Title: Does any CanBus gateway after version 'L' work?

Well reading into it more... so my battery doesn't die I need to upgrade my canbus gateway from whats currently in the car which is 'F' to 'L' or higher...

On this site is just says 'L' or higher and states a few options but my question is... does any letter after 'L' work just as well as the ones stated?

In theory, yes. In practice, you might struggle to find earlier canbuses.

Do you need to update the gateway because your RNS 510 drains the battery?
If so, you can also install modified new firmwares!
I have a modified FW2760 firmware with an old standard E version gateway (2005 EU GTI). No battery drain at all.

Yes.

Its important to note that the modified firmware doesn't always work though and battery drain can still happen

Correct! I think you also need a original B version for it, which I have.
