Title: Car just died, then come back to life??

Just had a strange one, just went and started the car and as it went to start everything died, lights went off on the dash, didnt even try to turn over... took key out then back in and started as if nothing happened. It did loose the trip reading, clock went to 0:00 and lost the auto drop/raise function on the windows (got that back now).

It seemed like it wanted to do this the other night as went to die, car locked itself then started but nothing else happened.

All I've done lately or at all since I've had it is change the rear lights to valeo led's (just over a week ago) and change the PCV the other night (changed after the 1st incident)

Just got my meter out and Voltage is correct on the battery. any ideas on what it might be??

any help greatly appriciated

Are the cables securely connected to the battery, sounds like a bad earth  :happy2:

Agreed. Check the terminals on the battery as a first port o' call.

As said check battery.

Or see if it's sprouting fur and starting to meow in which case you have 8 left  :grin:

I checked the terminals and they're on tight, grabbed a spanner out the van to check to make sure.

Just popped to asda and it started both times as if nothings wrong at all so a bit confused, gonna keep my eye on it, hopefully its just a one off

Turns out its not a one off. It done it the other day but thats the 1st time since I posted but it done it yesterday and tonight so its becoming more frequent. Kinda annoying as leaving it at gatwick for 5 nights from thurs.

I've checked all the earthing points I know off, battery terminals are tight, got 12v on the battery and 14v when running. When its done it the past few times it hasn't died completely like the 1st time, more tried to start, goes to die, Clock, trip reset and auto windows disable, then starts. After that its fine the rest of the day/evening when Im driving it.

Could the battery be shot even tho its showing 12v, i.e. not enough ampage in the battery for it to turn over or something but saying that the battery on mine has an indicator and thats green which means its all ok. The only other thing thats changed is that the light in the mirror switch sometimes works but now it doesn't work at all (kinda clutching at straws with that one)

Its annoying me now as I want it to be sorted, what are the next things to check or is it getting it scanned??

any help appreciated
