Title: Exhaust connection type?
Post by: vRS_Pagey on October 13, 2011, 03:59:28 am
Please bear with me on this as I try to explain what I need.

I have a Milltek downpipe waiting to go on my vRS, this is a larger bore pipe so requires an adapter to connect to the OE cat back, after chatting with another member who recently acquired an adapter direct from Milltek I have decided this could be the way forward.  What I need to know is on a standard system where the down pipe meets the cat back are the pipes the same diameter or is one of them stepped down so it slots into the other and then the two are clamped?  Thinking about it logically this would be the most secure way of joining the two!

Can anyone who has done this upgrade enlighten me, the only alternative other wise will be to jack the car up and undo the clamps to look for myself which I would prefer to avoid!

Thanks in advance, Lee.

Its the same size piping for OEM catback and downpipe, and the connecting sleeve has no stepdowns. You dont have to undo the clamps to see it for yourself.

Ok, so to fit the larger bore down pipe I will need an adapter sleeve and clamps to go over both ends?

Yes, atleast one bigger clamp.
