Cut short, mums away, son takes out family yacht, son requires rescuing. Mother presses charges against Uni student son and gets 9 months jail.
Neither of them gain by him going to jail, and as we all know, kids do stupid sh*t. Outside of murder or rape, or something along those lines what kind of parent presses charges against their own flesh and blood.
Surely this could have been dealt with in house?

I was in agreement with you until I read this:
"When the boat was brought ashore two stolen outboards and two fuel tanks were found on board, for which he pleaded guilty to two counts of receiving stolen goods. He also admitted stealing two cheques from his mother and making off without payment for food and drink from four pubs in Cornwall."
Bit of a scumbag then.

Deserves to goto jail even if he didnt steal those things.
Im on the mums side.
If more parents did the same, might actually teach the youth of society a thing or two, and to actually show some respect.

Are people who have been to jail pretty much unemployable though? If that's the case she's pretty much f*cked his entire future up.
Just a thought...
