You need to get the car scanned for fault codes and even some live logging when the problem occurs.

This might sound weird...check your oil.  Mine has had a mis-fire recently, shortly followed by the oil warning light. Its not done it since topping it up. Failing that logging will help

its going back nect week , they want it for a day and a half to change my spark plugs and coil packs ?
now i dont want to tempt fate here but they do know where my engine is on my car , dont they?
considering i dont have an engine cover i was thinking 40 mins tops to change them al out , so god knows why they need it for so long.

not long now for you Mike , i bet this weekend is dragging on?

had mine scanned and it said misfire cylinder 1 and 3,
but the plugs are around 3k old and coilpacks 1 week old,
might invest in some new plugs from vw was told there around £60 for bosch platinum

But if you're seeing a missfire fault it's more likely coilpack as that's where the fault signal comes from... spark plugs didn;t show a fault on mine...

I think you are correct.
My missfire problems with my spark plugs have shown a cel but only when they are shot to pieces.
normally i just get the stuttering when trying to put the power down , but when they are nearly dead  i do get the flashing cel , and if i carry on trying to put the power down i do get the full on cel  :sad1:

funnily enough i have only had 1 coil pack failure and that was a full on cel , thats not to say the other packs are not on their way out.

Or buy from a local Bosch dealer for £3.20 each, exact same part as the main dealers sell for £12+

With you being stage 2+ you may need a step colder plug than standard. When increasing the power there is more heat in the engine and the spark plugs gets too hot and the tips or core burn out. Id opt for some plugs in the 8 heat range as they will cope with the extra heat better.

Plugs also fixed my occasional stutter/misfire.  Infact, it also fixed 100%  the shakes I had at idle and I feel like I've had a real boost in power and torque.  Old plugs looked shocking which makes me wonder if they are the originals and VW never changed them when they should have.  I bought the OEM NGK plugs which a 1 stage cooler.  So far I'm really pleased, car feels brand new again :happy2:

glad its sorted mate
its a common problem hence why so many replies about changing plugs as the cure.

but you could have done it yourself for under £25!
