Title: Wheel brush
Post by: crashdesk on October 14, 2011, 09:37:36 pm: I'm looking to get a wheel brush and seen this one used by Paul Dalton. Anyone know the long one for the insides. Best one I have seen as any others I have looked at have wire in the middle and sticking out at the end which seems totally and utterly stupid as you 'may' scrath the laquer.

The other brush is a Swissvax Wheel Brush, also available from PB

Post by: keith on October 19, 2011, 10:14:27 pm: That Vikan brush has very strong brissles so be carefull on powder coated/sprayed wheels as you could mark them, EZ is good on motorbikes but your better of with the car version and stronger one - Daytona speedmaster.

Post by: Eccie on October 19, 2011, 11:21:36 pm: I use an old brush from polished bliss (just checked and they don't appear to sell it anymore) is like a small bog brush, I just use it to clean the back of the wheels if they are particularly dirty.

Having said that, since sealing them with Werkstat prime and two coats of FK1000p it doesn't take much to clean them now; snow foam + power wash+ wash mitt & soap and they're all done

Mine are Monza so i can get the wash mitt and my little hands to the back quite easy :P

I also use a Swissvax 'style' brush for the faces, Envy Valeting do a set of these brushes for less than SV one :happy2:

Agree with Russ wheel woolies are not worth the money IMO.

Sealant wise Auto Finesse Mint Rims or Gtechniq C5 best options IMO.

The big one does cause a bit of splashback, however it is better at cleaning the rear of the spokes etc.

I also have the mini one though :wink:

Good point on the mitt for Monza's, old wash mitt is ideal :smiley:

Large one always comes in handy when doing other peoples cars for me :grin:

Post by: stealthwolf on October 20, 2011, 06:14:04 pm: I still need to figure out how to do the areas when there's barely any room between the tyre and the arch. Fronts aren't too bad as you can move the steering wheel but the rears are very difficult. This is despite me having an underbody lance.

I give it a soaking with the PW then a load of megs super degreaser, then scrub with a long handled vikan brush so you can get right in there. The small EZ also works well.

Amazing how much mud etc comes away from the top inside of the arch :scared:

Although the bristles are a lot more gentle than the vikan I had before. :laugh:
