Hi, does any one have any experience with a really good body shop in northwest area preferbly in the liverpool warringhton cheshire area.
Just got my bumper back and am not totally happy, they said fit it and then bring back and we will fix bits as will be more rigid on the car. To be honest i dont trust them now and i dont want overspray every where.
They smoothed the rear lower and sprayed it complete.
Any advice would be great.

What is it you want doing mate? I no an amazing body shop in middlewich, junction 18. But he won't touch stuff that's been smoothed because he says it will break and his rep will be on the line. He wudnnt go near my smoothed bumper for that reason. :/

not that i've used them, but a member of another forum used Swansway garages to do the facelift front end swap to his A3. he sang their praises and it looked very good in the photos. they're pricey tho (Audi approved, think VW approved as well)

robbo in bolton is a great painter! i use him for everything and he has just done all of my brothers (joedarka) parts on his golf, see his thread in members rides.

The rear bumper is a standard but lower smoothed, they have done parts perfect but in other areas real poor smoothing and rubb down. Also the paint match is pants, its the c9z black magic of which i know is a night mare but its turned out like a grey light black.

Are they a real good qaulity spray painters, like factory finish mate, i saw your brothers thread its looking good.

I've used Panelcare in Rochdale on previous cars, excellent colour match as they use a hand held gizmo which matches the colour (don't rely on paint code), prices were reasonable as well - http://www.panelcare.co.uk/
They did the front end on a previous Golf, sideskirts, rear lower bumper, machine polish, etc

I will try both places above when saved up more money to get front bumper done.

pro-spray Rixton. I live in Warrington and it's not far, used the a number of times now mostly my missus chasing parked cars :rolleye: but everytime their work has been spot on. :happy2:

Will give them a ring also, there a bit closer as i live not too far away just near m62. Spoke to the body shop in rochdale and they take pics of your paint and scan it to get the match, which sounds better.
But did say a bumper will never be spot on due to it being plastic, my original bumpers are pritty spot on to be fair though.
Every one says you cant expect it to be perfect but i do expect it to turn out factory finish if i am paying for it. Maybe i am too fussy lol.

You only have to look at brand new cars (especially silver fords) to see how plastic parts differ from metal when painted
The pic i posted above shows how good a match Panelcare did on my plastic bumpers/ skirts - perfect
what colour is your car?
-
Black mate c9z, think its black magic pearl, i dont know if its due to it being black but my original bumpers spot on.
I have noticed more so on silver though not sure why silver seems to be bad for it.
Was your front bumper sprayed also?
-
yep, the bumper was a GTi replica part and came in black (oe quality)
Black is supposed to be easy to match (not sure if metalic is as easy as gloss black?)
Silver is supposed to be difficult due to the "pigments" in the paint? and white is also supposed to be difficult which i thought would be the opposite?
-
where did you get the replica from, looks ok in pics did it fit well.
-
I got it a few years ago from a seller in ireland - I think it was Vagen?
Perfect fit and complete with grilles, etc - centre grille where badge is was gloss black instead of VW matt but i think a genuine part would have fitted?
Got that as it was a straight fit so didn't need the front panel cutting, etc :happy2:
