Title: Race Diagnostics - Liquid 2
Post by: RENNTAG on October 15, 2011, 10:44:33 pm
I remember reading about this when the original one came out for the 20vt engine in the MK4 GTI and TT's.

Does anyone know if they actually made one for the MK5 GTI and where i can get one from.

Have done a bit of searchin but not found alot.

Thanks

I will post pics and a video of mine up in the morn.
I absolutly love it and i perfect for keeping a eye on the car without using vcds all the time.
Had a few teething problems with mine but it turned out to be the connector on the car.

That would be great idf you could.

Jim at race diagnostics has informed me you can still get them £245 now.

A video would be great to help understand some of the features and how it looks  :happy2:

Thanks,

Do you think it can be fitted in the vent near the drivers door?

Does it just plug straight in to the OBD2 port and work or is anything else required?

Thanks for your help on this.

Thanks,

Do you think it can be fitted in the vent near the drivers door? I looked into this when fitting mine and it apeared to be the wrong shape for the side vent.
Does it just plug straight in to the OBD2 port and work or is anything else required? Yes just plugs in with the DL16 (OBD2) port.
Thanks for your help on this.

I've just had one of these fitted and can confirm that it can fit in the driver side air vent wit gaps, though the view isn't the best! I'm going to put it on the middle vent now to see if its better.

Pictures as promised. Not the best quality but hopefully gives you an idea of what it looks like if fitted there. Difficult to see when fitted in my seating posistion as the steering wheel gets in the way. That and because there is so much of a gap when fitted, it doesn't look as OEM when fitted in the centre console.

Jaywoo-GTI did you get airbag fault after fitting the gauge? and how long did it take for it to go away? I've been quoted by Awesome GTI £33 to get it reset which is a pain! I understand that if you unplug the airbag sensor and turn on the ignition this would cause this?

do they display boost pressure?
It shows the actual boost and command boost as requested by the ECU. It can also be displayed in a graph where both can be displayed at the same time.
And can be displayed in psi and mbar

No mate. Mine has been on a while. It started when i moved the driver seat on holiday. Had it reset a couple of times after that but it said it was a air bag fault in the seat so kept coming back on. But after about a year since i first had the problem it seems to have sorted its self out.

Definetly agree!

Hmm...now that makes me think whether i've caused it to come on when moving my seat back? Either way its dissapointing that you can't reset an airbag fault with the Liquid, consdering that for a bit extra you can get a VCDS. Have you managed to get the exhaust temperature to work Jaywoo?

Oh..how have you managed that? Whenever I look at the exhaust temperature. All I get is zero.

make sure the setting are for petrol engine and reading from block 4 i think it is from memory.

PM'd you but you need a couple more posts before you can read it.

Hmm..Pretty sure it is already setup like that. Unless I am not saving it when selecting? I'll have a look. Thanks Jaywoo. On a side note, for anyone who fits one of these. "Make sure you do not disconnect the passenger airbag plug and turn the ignition on" This will give you an airbag fault which can only be cleared with VCDS or equivilant.
