I'd have to go and check the part # on my Mk5 GTI shocks. I've got a set (plus springs) in my batcave which have only done about 8k miles and I could sell if interested.
However, I would expect there to be differences because aren't diseasal engines heavier?

The spring rates would be different as the TDI is heavier as Robin said and the GTI comes lower from the factory as standard :happy2:

That's interesting as I was under the impression the two cars shared the same suspension.

The suspension would be the same in basics such as ride height and handling characteristics but due to the differences in weight between the 2 cars the springs would be different for obvious reasons but I believe the struts could possibly still be the same.
Saying that I went from a GT-Sport to a GTI and the ride wasnt similar at all.
