As i was undoing the nut i obviously wasnt undoing the bolt just twisting the pipe instead which made it look like the nut was coming out. The pipe is only held on both ends with a 17mm nut so easily removable to replace.its just how to undo the other part thn it can be removed and everything back to normal.fingers crossed

I see the part number as 06E 127 501N on the nut itself.  Unfortunately, I think this means that the whole fuel line will need to be replaced. Perhaps there is the option to replace with the newer version with the rubber end piece and without the banjo bolt on the left side. However, that right side line appears to connect under the intake manifold so a bit fiddly if it's the same as my car.  In any event, I think a dealer will need to get one on order as I don't think your car is going anywhere until then - their EKTA catalogue will tell you what's needed.

the nut should spin on the pipe shouldn't it?????

what is the pink residue???

Yeah its the same as yours there is room to get in from above the manifold but as you say its fiddly.will be a trip to te dealers in te morning for me to order the part.as for the new rubber pipe i wouldnt want to change that as it has quite a few junction etc coming off the one metal pipe so would mean replacing quite a few and the side of the pump hast been affected.if possible ive bent the best one, every cloud and all that

The car is a 55 plate 06 model, think its the axx engine model but will need to double check. The pink isnt a residue its on the metal pipe might be due to the metal stretching/bending

Nice one QD, that looks like it  :happy2:

Good luck mate. That bolt should've spun on the pipe but was obviously siezed to it.

You have probably seen this but for others, this is what it should look like when it comes off and with a banjo fitment on the other side: http://www.golfmkv.net/blog/archives/6# (http://www.golfmkv.net/blog/archives/6#)

Title: Re: HELP!!!!!Fuel pump, tuners help would be appreciated and everyone elses
Post by: liver on October 21, 2011, 06:20:43 pm
io depressurised the fuel pump as in the guide with the realease part and also had the bent pipe off at the fuel pump end like in the guide after id found out it was twisted so should be depressurised, is there anything i can do at the inlet end to depressurise the pipe?

should think it will be ok now, just undo it slowly with a rag near it to catch any spillage, don't open the drivers door with it un-done unless you have disconnected the battery :happy2:

A word of caution, I think it is the right pipeline.

When you go to the Dealer, make sure you have the VIN number and Reg at hand, he should be able to input either and get the correct version pipeline, based on the correct engine number fitted to your car.

It should cost around £20-25.

Were you turning the silver bolt or the brass one when this happened??

If he was turning the brass nut then it will twist, you need to loosen the silver bolt then move the fuel line out of the way to take the brass one out.

On a side not moving from this older fuel pump design to the new easier rubber one wasn't cost effective, think it prices somewhere in the region of £150 +vat

I actually did this for a pricely sum of around £30. Got the fuel lines and hoses off ebay and just needed a couple of oem clips to complete the install.

Well! By having a quick look it looks like I have the flexible hose, that's on a 2005 gti! Thought it was the later models that had the flexi, result!

Going to give this a go at work today, mine has hit 80k so a bit nervous what my follower is going to look like!
