Title: EVOMS intak fitted
Post by: namz1 on October 22, 2011, 02:17:44 am
I just had my evoms intake fitted imported from America, but from hearing what other people say this intake is for LOUDNESS i woudnt say so or is there something wrong? It does make a deeper sound from before but cant hear the turbo spool or any kind of wooshes and DV chatter, i would have thought an intake would have definately made these sounds, any1 got any idea about this?
It may need mapping to work properlt perhaps i am currently on AMD stage 1 remap

.
Every Evoms I've heard has made a very distinctive sound like a laughing Hyena every time you quickly lift off your right foot. Accelerate and then suddenly lift off. Who fitted it? Has it been fitted properly?

As RedRobin says they do make a very distinctive sound. I have one on my car at Stage 1 and it sounds like darth vader on light throttle and you can definitely hear with chuffing and chattering away. With all the windows shut accelerate hard and lift off, you will hear it quite loudly in the passenger footwell. You cant really fit it wrong tbh. One pipe from the turbo and then jubilee clips round the filter.

I can only echo the comments of Robin and Rob here, my Evoms makes similar sounds and I have under bonner insulation.  Even if you are running a stock map it will still make noise, the turbo whistle/spool up will increase massively with a remap though.

I fitted mine after stage 1, the ECU should adapt to the extra air intake.  Tbh I can see it being 2 things, either it's not fitted correctly or you're expectations are too high.  Where are you based mate, if you are local I would be happy to have a look at yours and give you a demo of mine?

I don't think the DV will be an issue as even when mine had a half inch split in it, the intake still made a noise.  If you are thinking of swapping DV's don't pay out for the Forge, go for the Rev D OE type, less than 60 quid from TPS.   :happy2:

Not sure if this will help, its not the Evoms, but the sound is almost identical to mine, not sure about the engine noise though, sounds like a tractor.....
