He's got 5 provisional dates reserved, as far as I know he's looking at two events comprising two consecutive days and an end of season back to back with Spa. There'll be plenty to chose from, but I'll deffo be on the Ring/Spa one.

After I had great time on this years Nring & Spa trip I am planning to do it again. So I am really interested.

I'm def interested, Usually one goes on May time.
Would you all be doing the 3/4 day one, or the 7 day one that people off the board did this year?

I would be keen for the 4 day one (think it's a long weekend) as funds are tight, but really want to do the trip for my 30th. :happy2:

I wouldn't mind doing 7 but like you funds will be limited next year so all depends what the hotel, etc come in at, so might be a case of 4 days for me.

Does anyone know if they still let you do the GP circuit??

Title: Re: Ring Track Day
Post by: big al on October 25, 2011, 04:55:09 pm
Think people said that last time they did a 4 day trip it came in around £500 including ferry/tunnel to get there.
People like Greeners/Top cat are the best to ask I think, as they know all the hotels.
I would be bringing the missus with me too, so expect a couple hundred more with her due to hotels etc.
Title: Re: Ring Track Day
Post by: tony_danza on October 25, 2011, 05:21:05 pm
4's enough IMO, probably a touch more if you're taking in Spa too.

We go on the cheap now, you do it enough times, the novelty of eating out and going 'posh' wears off.

4 lads & 4 cars sharing a cabin on the Hull/Rotterdam = £90/each return
6 person apartment self catering = 15euros/pppn

Laps and fuel are your biggest cost.
Title: Re: Ring Track Day
Post by: Nodz on October 25, 2011, 05:31:43 pm
Thats not to bad. I'll probably be Dover - Calais or Dover - Dunkirk as thats nearer and cheaper for me to do rather than a 4hr drive to Hull
Title: Re: Ring Track Day
Post by: tony_danza on October 25, 2011, 05:41:48 pm
Exactly, you go the easiest route. Dover is 5 hours more driving and a tank of fuel each way extra for us... so £40 more on the Hull/Rott ferry is a no brainer.
Title: Re: Ring Track Day
Post by: Nodz on October 25, 2011, 05:49:51 pm
Exactly it don't always work out meeting up this side, plenty of places the other side to meet up and drive down together
Title: Re: Ring Track Day
Post by: SteveyD on October 25, 2011, 06:34:00 pm
As per Mikes post (Danza) I wont be doing any more TF days at the ring, I'm sick of spending ££££'s to park my car up all day due to closures.  The way forward is to do a private track day, cost wise it's about the same especially if you bang in 15+ laps per visit.

Ring F1 & Spa F1 tracks are epic and I'd favour any track day trip that could combine these.  Also the hull-Rotterdam party boat is a no brainer!

Trackdays are around £450-500, but for that you get full track stewarding, open pitlane for 8hrs, no queuing, only cars ie. no bikes, lorries, buses, campervans etc, re-fueling on-site, some free tuition if you need it, sighting lap. They are the best way of safely doing the ring as most have experience and all get a safety briefing and rules to adhere to on the day.

Tourist days are a free for all and are more daunting than an organised trackday if you haven't been before.

The link below is the one I've been to before.

Or Circuit-Days have one too..

The thing that annoys me is that it only takes one d!ck to total his shed of a car or spill oil from a leaky old tugboat on a tourist day and the track can shut for a long time. On a trackday the people seem more responsible and the cars are better looked after and even the crashes that do happen are dealt with efficiently to keep the track open. For me it is worth paying the extra to do a trackday, but having said that I would still risk tourist days myself - it's the masochist in me

TC I came across this yesterday as I was thinking of planning the Ring+Spa trip.
There is an explanation for the dates: at the beginning of each year the opening dates are very few. For some reason they don't write all the open days. For sure they will add some dates as the days go by.
So, no worries!

Yesterday I also saw that the opening days for Spa are published: http://www.spa-francorchamps.be/en/track-activities-public-driving-experience.php
Most likely I will be going on the 1st of May, (along with a Ring trip) but I will open a new topic for that.

Hi,
I am 100% up for a Ring + Spa organised track day back to back. I've never done Spa. It's been on my list for a while so its time to do it. I've done an annual pilgrimage to the Ring for the last 8 years, but have now decided no more Touristfarten for me, for all the reasons others have mentioned but especially liability.

Be very interested to know of a back to back trip.  :happy2:

....I agree with Hurdy on this one. 'Private' trackdays on the full Nurburgring are far better and well worth the extra in my opinion. However, apart from now being somewhat financially restricted, I am not the masochist which friend and 'Ring roomy John Hurdy is!

Such trackdays were not on my bucket list as I don't have one, but at least I have done and thoroughly enjoyed them. Spa is my favourite though.

I'm organising the Club GTI 'Ring Trip tour for 2012 for the DTM weekend. August can be hit and miss with weather, but every month can to be honest. It can be sunny one day, and cold and foggy the next. We always have a lot of fun though.

Title: Re: Ring Track Day
Post by: Deako on April 18, 2012, 03:46:15 pm

The thing that annoys me is that it only takes one d!ck to total his shed of a car or spill oil from a leaky old tugboat on a tourist day and the track can shut for a long time. On a trackday the people seem more responsible and the cars are better looked after and even the crashes that do happen are dealt with efficiently to keep the track open. For me it is worth paying the extra to do a trackday, but having said that I would still risk tourist days myself - it's the masochist in me

....I agree with Hurdy on this one. 'Private' trackdays on the full Nurburgring are far better and well worth the extra in my opinion. However, apart from now being somewhat financially restricted, I am not the masochist which friend and 'Ring roomy John Hurdy is!

This can and does happen on organised Track Days as well. And as you have spent potentially a lot of money, to have a complete day wasted would be devastating.

Ring and Spa back to back for me as well in October again

I phoned for reservation info and the Nurburgring 700 is not for me... The asking price of 1000 GBP for one trackday is much too expensive for me (actually 900 GBP because I get 100 GBP discount for not using the Euro Channel).
There are about 30 spots still available so if someone wants to go but is not sure yet you might have to decide quick.

The Spa trackdays are quite cheap (235 GBP) but the 9th of August is booked. I might so some touristfarten from the 6th to the 9th of October and than Spa on the 10th.

The 6-9th of october and the Spa on the 10Th i hope to be able to make.
I'm just booking for Inters and the ferry alone is app. 1000£  :stupid: So unless i find a sponsor i might get better value for money meeting you in October  :happy2:

The Ring/Spa double header is still available though. Most definitely worthwhile as Spa is on the way home and Spa is a great circuit.
