Title: Benefits of DSG remap?
Post by: baderlfc on October 26, 2011, 10:47:08 am
I'm currently looking for a GTi or Ed30 and 1 thing I was/am dead set on is DSG gearbox..

Now i've seen on jabbasport and revo and numerous other sites about "DSG remapping".. what exactly does this achieve and is it necessary or at least adviseable when remapping the engine because a revo/amd stage 1 map would be my first mod..

Also I'm reading lots of talk about torque limits on DSG gearboxes at something like 250ft/lbs?! Surely this isn't right? A stage 1 remap in an Ed30 would exceed that I'd have thought?

Anyone aware of DSG boxes failing after remapping/exceeding this torque limit?

The main difference is in sport and manual mode.

7400 rpm limiter
Quicker gear changes
No auto upshift and no kick down whilst in manual mode
Increased clutch torque holding.

I think that's about it :-)

It depends on which engine remap you have. Some can work around the torque limiter, otherwise is sits at 280lbft.

IM pretty sure i read on a forum on here that Jabbasport re-map does all of the above, including increasing clamping loads on clutches for DSG and that their own development car is running about 370bhp without issues, although they are working on modifying the map to allow more power it seems.

I will be going to Jabba myself soon enough for Stage 1 remap, then next year will be re-visiting for Milltek turbo back, ITG/Twintake (not decided which yet), HPFP internals upgrade and DSG remap and then custom RR map to release more horses

I see that this forum has or will be emptying your bank account as per usual  :signLOL:

Actually i spoke to Jabba today (about mods to my own ED30) and they no longer do the DSG remaps, they may have a problem with Revo maps limiting their engine maps or something like that as it sounds like revo dont want someone buying DSg remap from them and then another company mapping car

Ah well stage 1 it is for me then  :happy2: until next year when funds permit stage 2.5  :driver:

When my car was working, revo dsg map with shark ecu map it produced 348bhp and 350 lb/ft of torque. Revo said stage 1 dsg map is fine with other tuners, stage 2 is only for revo ecu map.
Giac and shark also have their own dsg maps
