1. What is this W button on the centre console? NOT SURE
2. Drivers mirror vibrates, does it just need taking off and putting back on? Any seal or anything that normally goes?, worth a try i suppose3. Drivers door has dropped. New hinge? Anything else I should get?, you can try the old jack method to see if it helps (Block of wood and jack under door and jack away until it moves a little, then try the door and repeat as necessary, be carefull tho, you dont want to do too much!!) , otherwise new hinge4.Rear disks, should they be vented on a 170? (Mine arnt), cant help on that
5. Cost of a cambelt and water pump done at a specialist or dealer? (66k and 56 plater so its due one?) Recommend anywhere in Swansea or Gloucestershire area? VW quoted me £399 for Cambelt and Waterpump (mine is due in April/May) on my Ed30 (2.0 ltre cars are same cost im told)
6. 6 Disk in dash changer? Do I really have one?, eject any then feed them in and see what happens lol

Cheers all.

Well done on the purchase bud, projects are good mine has been going on for 5 years now and still not finished??

The W button has has been said reduces torque its for Winter mode when its icy.

The hinges are easy enough to change but not cheap from dealers.

Good luck mate and get plenty of pics up.

Darren

Just one thing about the W for winter button only use it on the slippery ice/snow stuff.
Cause if it's still on and you try and give it some beans out of dry junction (for example that's thawed) the car is bloody sluggish, like it's lost about 100 horsepower.
Just what I found when we had a 170.

5. I paid £300 at a local VW specialist recently.
6. Press the CD button to switch to CD mode. It should display the text "NO CD" six times; once beside each of the six selection buttons (the same buttons that you use to select the stored radio stations) - assuming no CDs are loaded.

6 CD changer is usually in the armrest if you've got a RCD300 or similar but in the actual head unit if its a RCD510 i think
