Herrro!
Am I likely to get battery drain issues if I install an RCD 500 with my 2007 edition 30?
Thanks.

yes. i think the cut off was 2008 onwards was ok.
if you have access to vcds you can check the can gateway part no without digging it out the dash. failing that dig it out the dash and check the part no!

Do you mean an RCD510 bud if so then yes I would think your Gateway will be a K revision although Alan has the same and he has been fine with a later RNS510 with the D revision software.
Maybe fit the headunit and see what happens, if you use the car every day then it should be fine anyway other wise you'll see the battery drain when you leave it over a couple of days.

Yeah it's the 510 whoops lol. From an 05 golf.
Worth going for, for £200?
Is it a simple swap daz?

I'm confused with all this canbus and gateway talk....
what would you suggest with an aftermarket headunit?

If its from an 05 then it is the 500 mate :happy2: there'll be no battery drain and its a 10 minute job at the most,
If its something you've never done then make allowances and say 30minutes? take care with the top vent cover has the clips tend to snap quite easily and when taking the stereo out put some masking tape over the top of the climate panel so you don't scratch it even better take the screws out and lay the panel over the lower part of the dash where the dsg knob is.

I managed to squeeze it in Darren  Oooo err
It's a good little bit of kit. It has the sd card and 6 disk changer inside. What ever that makes it?
Thanks a million for your help mate!

Does anyone know how to get my iPod connected to this badboy?
-
You need either the old ipod connection kit or the new MDI kit :happy2: I personally would go with the MDi has they are so more advanced and give you all the info from the Ipod and not just a list of tracks like the cd changer.
