Title: How to add AUX-in to an MDI kit
Post by: Eddie-NL on October 29, 2011, 05:45:15 pm
Some on here have added a MDI Media player to there cars, I thought that I would like to have the AUX-in Socket like the factory fitted and to replace the black tab that covers the hole in the armrest cover.

Dimensions for cut out for the plug in the armrest cover.

The parts required

5M0 035 724 Aux-in Socket
8K0 973 754 Plug for Aux-in Socket
3x 000 979 009E Repair wires (As I made my own loom I just crimped the wires which match the factory colour)

My loom

Insert the wires

MDI Plug                    Aux-In plug
Pin 5         >                    Pin 3
Pin 11       >                    Pin 2
Pin 6         >                    Pin 1

Code the Radio for Aux-in Monitoring and check the settings on the Radio.

Some of the newer MDI players have a constant fault with the Open circuit due to not having the AUX-in. This should sort that and you have the ability to play tunes from your MP3 player, Laptop etc

Looks good, I was in a Skoda Fabia Hire car (61 PLate) and it had a Aux in socket with like a flip top, thought it might be a good mod and then you post this so good timing. Might be worth getting one and posting some pics

Eddie,
I have just followed your guide to do this.
All wiring in place.
I have enabled aux in monitoring on module 56 - radio.
I still have the open circuit error (I had it before anyway when aux in monitoring was enabled).
I have rcd510 and there are no options on there and the aux in option does not activate when connected.

Any ideas?
Thanks
Jas
