Title: RNS Security Pin dealer retrieval
Post by: nc35 on October 31, 2011, 05:12:16 pm
Hi All

Just wondering if anyone knows what is involved.  Realized that my car came without the security pin for the RNS510 (as well as most of the important things in the owners manual eg service book).  Rang the dealer who has now booked it in to retrieve the code in the workshop...

Says its a 25min while you wait job. Just wondering what they will be doing, don't really want the radio removing if possible...  Trying to avoid future rattles etc.

Why do you need the PIN? As long as you put the RNS back in your car it will always work as the car remembers any head unit it sees.

Not telling them that though.  Free service - since they cocked up.

They plug the car into Vas and send off to germany for a retrieval pin request.  its all done over the net via Vas/geko whatever they call it now.

No stereo out with the dealer.
