Title: RNS-510 MDI and New Ipod Touch (4th Gen)
Post by: Norbreck21a on November 02, 2011, 08:13:13 am
Hi Guys, long time no post.

Have an old Ipod Classic sat in the centre console MDI dock in the Rocco that I've had for years. It's a 64GB old click wheel style unit but up until recently worked fine. I think the HDD is on it's way out so looking to change it.

I was thinking about getting the new Ipod Touch 32gb 4th Generation but am not sure if it integrates properly with the MDI interface (and my RNS-510). I seem to recall (although I could have dreamt it), that a couple of years ago I tried an old 1st Gen Ipod touch and that was flaky at best.

Anyone use one and can put my mind at rest please before I splurge out on one ?

My 32GB Ipod Touch 4th Gen works just as well as my iPhone 4 in the MDI, don't have any issues with either of them

If you have any problems Andrew have a look on My-gti.com for the MDI update, should sort any issues out.

Thanks guys for the replies.

Darren, I'm hoping there wont be any incompatability issues as the car was only born in April of this year so the MDI firmware should be fairly new ?

I can bet you that parts bin they use will be full of dated ones back to 07 :signLOL: but yes should be around the date of build :happy2:
