Post by: kingjeb on November 04, 2011, 12:16:09 pm
I've recently bought a gti interior for my gt and have noticed that the air bag plugs are different, any advice on how to swap them would be appreciated,
thanks

Cut your original ones off and solder onto gti seats :happy2: what colours do you have on each seats? from the top of my head my original ones where brown, black and green??? the new ones are brown white and blue so solder brown to brown black to white and green to blue :happy2:

colours are the same but the plugs are different is it literally as easy as solder on the original plug to the new seat? sorry to sound like a pleb :signLOL: but don't want to mess around when it comes to air bags

The plugs can actually be removed from the terminals (providing the terminals are the same) then either swap the plugs over or fit new plugs from a dealer (few pence each IIRC)

The terminals are held in place by (IIRC 2) small locating 'barbs' you need to push the wire all the way into the plug and then these barbs need to be flattened, which will enable you to gently pull the terminals out of the plugs, then gently prise the barbs back out so they then lock into the next plug.
