Has anyone had one fitted + any pro's & con's?

Pro's and cons all depend on what state of tune you are running really. IF you are Stage 2/2+ on an ED30 you are better of going for an aftermarket one such as the THS.

Is there any empirical data that the THS is better than the S3 cooler.

I could say twice as good as that is cost difference.  :surprised:  :evilgrin:

I'm sure someone posted a link on here to a test that was done between THS, Forge and i think S3. iirc the outcome was they all performed pretty similarly so i agree with you Ian. Certainly not worth double the cost imho.

The S3 cooler as good as it is never made fianancial sense for me. Circa £300 for something that will cost a few hours labour to fit, while the forge is more expensive at you can reclaim a good chunk of it back come resale time as it a lot easier to install / remove (especially if you buy used). I'd consider the S3 as fit and forget, while the THS/APR ones somewhere in the middle, and the forge being the best. That is if you consider the performance of each equal or differences negligible.

the s3 intercooler is good for 500 bhp, therefore ths and forge twintercooler are not needed.

the forge is, however, easier to fit onto you oem cooler so will save you on labour time over the s3 and of course is easier to take off and sell on if you want to put your car back to standard.

am sure the ths kit is great but worth the money over the s3? no.

Interesting posts, the main thing is to keep the engine temperatures consistent throughtout a race + sticking to regs  :happy2:
