As far as I'm aware there isn't a running order list so in your position I would arrive early so your car ends up at the head of the queue.
-
i might be interested ill have to let you know next week though ( i dont get my car until next week ), hope its not too late
-
Cant make it sorry

is this full now?
-
is this full now?
Not at the moment as only 10 have paid.
Some more are expected to pay on the day but paying Awesome now ensures you have a running slot as they (Awesome) have stated they will only do a max of 18 cars.
-
i'll probs call them tomorrow - i read somewhere that you're not meant to RR DSG cars tho?

I have dsg and been to a few RR days without coming to grief including at Awesome.

Hi I've just paid awesome for tomorrow :happy2:

Nice one, see you tomorrow. :happy2:

If I could be guaranteed an earlish slot (11am or before) then I would definitely come on this. Any spaces left?
-
ill be there to get a extra bit for my boost gauge, a bit they said i didnt need!!! not happy having to drive back.

You sure the t piece is too small? :(

when i spoke to Awesome this afternoon they said they had 11 (plus me) booked, so they had some capacity and you could rock up on the day. they said that they can't guarantee a running order, but if you get there nice and early (9ish) you've got the best chance of getting to pick a slot.
i suppose you could get there early and if you're not going to be able to do your run you could leave it. you've not paid up front so you're not committed as such

im going to be up early and pull it apart but im 90% sure

I'll be there before 9am then :happy2:

A good morning. The Polo managed 225bhp and 274lbft. Not bad for a 1.4 with just an exhaust and remap. :happy2:

Thats a healthy amount of torque, i bet its pretty darn quick? :happy2:

Without wanting to take anythin away from your car John, I'm sure its a right bit of kit but I'm a bit sceptical about Awesomes torque figures, when I was there the other week a guy was tellin me about his 400+lbs/ft stage 2 ED30 without an uprated pump and my pals stage 2 K03 GTI made 370 ft/lbs on their rollers which doesn't ring true to me

Bacillus was there today too - he's definitely done something else to his car as it is now running 338bhp and 381lbft :surprised: and he is quite shy when you ask him about his mods.
I'm far too wise now to know that it is a dyno lottery Gaz :happy2: - Just wait till I tell Steve Jr at Statllers that my torque is over 30lbft higher over the other side of the hill when I see him next

It sure is, but I reckon it is more like 250-260lbft as Awesomes dyno's are renowned for higher torque figures. bhp is usually about right since they recalibrated it a while ago. 210whp isn't too bad for a car that weighs under 1150kg. :happy2:

Thatsbsome comedy torque there. Awesome GTIs torque seem to be high all the time. Id say your stadtlers figures are more realistic. Are you going to run setting c with your IC?
-
He defo has a ko4 on his car and has for some time He just likes to make us all think it's only a stage 2+ ko3 setup

No, I'll probably still run setting B on the road and then run C when the occasion presents itself (dyno day and 1/4 mile and trackdays). When I get w/m on I can run C all the time

I thought as much as he just gives a wry smile when you ask him outright.
-
I don't get why he just does not say what he has done outright
-
I was there in the morning hurdy admiring the polo, I turned up in a c1 to get some more bits to fit the boost gauge.

Ah, you should have come over and said hello :happy2: I had to leave early for work. I was up at 06.30am cleaning the car too. :ashamed:
-
Torque does seem on the p***, mine's stock and although HP was bang on, it gained 50lbs foot to make 350.
I think they've been having problems with it, as for ages it was spot on.

copied this of Patchs thread on ukmiv forum
Taken off scn 10 days ago, after they questioned the results.
"After this topic of the our rollers giving high torque figures, Jim has had the rollers in pieces today and checked everything out adjusted the brakes and re-calibrated the rollers..
Everything all checked out fine and the computer shows the calculation for the torque and bhp readings being the same as before,
We ran a standard TT 225 Before the overhaul and after. Giving readings of 224 bhp and 227 lb ft
Cant say we having listened to you guys . we want to run the day so people are happy and give good honest read outs from the dyno."

Some 1.8Ts making 350+ftlbs of torque. I don't know much (ok, anything) but bare in mind that a stage 2+ Ed30 with do about 350ftlbs... doesn't take a scientist to work out theres "trouble at'mill" :signLOL:
-
I managed to make 300lbft of torque with my 1.8T with 227bhp at awesome :surprised:

You can check torque vs hp easily, remember that torque is what the dyno measures, hp is calculated by the dyno its not an actual factor that is measured. Heres some info:
http://www.howstuffworks.com/question622.htm
So if you take your bhp and torque readings at a given rpm (5252rpm) you can compare your hp and ft/lb and see if they match up.
I was working on a dyno that was throwing up big torque figures once, remembering that the 3 main factors are the power of the car, the acceleration rate of the car against the given load applied by the dyno and the engine RPM, we looked at RPM. Instead of using the cars clocks as an rpm guide we used a feed from the injectors onto an oscilloscope and then fed this into the dyno divided by 4 (4stroke, 4cyl engine) and realised that the rpm input we gave the dyno from the clocks was 370rpm out at 3500 rpm under load. This skewed the calculations and gave us 18% more torque, but no extra peak rpm.
Dynos are a lot more than a rolling barrell, theres lots more than meets the eye. A simple problem with the rpm calculation can make big differences in figures. Any form of hub or chassis (drive on) Dynos are not ideal for power measurement due to the factors that can affect figures, but as a software development and 'difference' tester they are invaluable to a tuner.
What makes me laugh is that one day its claimed dyno X reads low, then a week later on another forum it reads high, some dynos read loads lower than most others and some people class this one as being the most accurate, then other people only use dynos that give massively higher figures to massage their own ego's.
If you want a true power figure, use an engine dyno :) if you want a guestimate flywheel figure then use a chassis/hub dyno. If you want something realistic ask your dyno operator for @the wheels numbers, thats the only true measurement the dyno actually reads.
-
So if you multiply torque (in pound-feet) by engine speed (in RPM) and divide the product by 5,252 this gives you your bhp at the given rpm.
-
dave....I'll ask NASA if they need any new rocket scientists :signLOL:
-
Thanks, but I dont like heights.

That was still high as mine got 212whp with a stock intake :driver: yet only made 225bhp
Then at Statllers made 200whp after having the intake fitted, which gave me another 15.5bhp on Statllers rollers.
