do i have to download a convertor the get these to play in windows, itunes etc.

Yes

Apple knows best and doesn't think you will want to play the higher quality standard flac files and wants you to use their own non proprietary lossless file system if you use itunes  :fighting:

If you want to play them through windows media player down load from here http://xiph.org/dshow/ select 32bit if you have 32 or 64 bit windows, reboot (oh the joys of being able to add your own codec to Windows player  :P )

Know a good convertor? allll my stuff is itunes lol and I will need to change them for the RNS
