Post by: dalewhite on November 06, 2011, 10:14:25 pm
Hi
I had a carbon roof on order from performace-trim however they have gone bust so I was wondering if there are any other companies that sell? Also does anyone know whats happend with all the moulds from performance-trim has another company taken them over?

There was a guide on performance trim website not that big a job for a half decent body shop, would bloody love one.

Am I being thick here?  Is this a complete replacement roof, in other words they cut yours off and replace it with a carbon one, or is it a cover of some kind?

Yup it's a performance trim one but it needs stripped and redone. Probably doesn't help that scabby folk pick at it with their dirty finger nails at shows and in car parks. Day I catch someone doing that they are dead. People have no respect. It'll be getting redone by my carbon dude once I've got other bits sorted. Not too happy with how it's fairing tbh

Would a roof panel work out cheaper to buy rather than a first time bonnet due to the much more simple design so simple tooling?

Obviously cost more when fitting is factored in.

I admire anyone willing to goto the lengths of messing with the structure of the car?? :scared: but I think ill stick to the vinyl wrapping, just got a quote from Modtech in Leeds £150 and £20 for the grill inserts.

yeah i question the safety of going this far - if it's for looks only carbon wrap will do but if it's for performance i'm guessing that a roll cage will also be needed so maybe it won't affect the structural rigidity? i dunno, sadly i'm not an engineer

anyway MV Developments apparently have started doing carbon parts. i'd give them a shout

Out of interest what were the imperfections in this roof? Weave of the lacquer?

I have one for my Fiesta from PT is there something to look out for longterm with these carbon roofs?
