Title: Crappy monday car lost power!
Post by: Kregiel on November 07, 2011, 09:21:13 am
Hi Guys,
Just thought I would share my grief with you. I got my 2008 gti remapped some time ago and got some healthy 235 bhp figure and extremely happy with the performance. Today was driving and all was fine. Engine was properly warmed up (frost at night) and I was having fun. Suddenly once i was acceelerating something snapped no noise, no lamp on the dash just the power was gone. Can it be the diverted valve?? The tuner was saying it was holding the pressure nicely and I didn't really want to change a part unless it's broken.
Luckily the car still under warranty.
Let me know your thought
Cheers
Paul

Sounds a bit like a dv tear to me assuming you don't have a version D dv.

Did the power come back?

Mine used to do this when driving on a motorway/dual carriageway at about 60-70mph - put your foot down and 'pop' power gone, like limp mode, no lights on dash and power would come back after 10-20 seconds.

Sorted now (via removing map and adding a dash of REVO) - car was running far too rich and requesting too much for the fuel pump to handle at a certain rpm, so it was cutting.

What map is your car running?

Guys,
Problem resolved itself with turning engine off and turning it back on. Spoke to my tuning guy, it's a custom made map fully adjustable and there is a protection on turbo system in case the engine is not properly warmed up yet. It was freezing down here with temperature dropping to minus 3 here and the engine was not warmed properly once I stepped on it and it went into save mode.

Happy now and happy with this protection set up.
