Very said to hear this, I saw them at Leuchars a few months ago and they had just lost one of their pilots three weeks before :(
-
They always come to Blackpool and do a great show, always drags in more tourists then the actual Illuminations themselves too, it;s always a great and fantastic show I seriously hope it doesn't stop them!

:sad1: My thoughts are with the family.

I was gutted to hear of this yesterday!
Taken from another forum when someone mentioned them disbanding......
Not a chance! The Reds are the cream of the RAF, the very best airmen our country has. Their job is to inspire the younger generations into the armed forces, to be the best. Disbanding the team now would only show weakness. If a squadron loses a pilot in combat it doesn't disband, go home and feel sorry for itself, it gets back up there and does its fallen comrade proud! :)

I concur Jay.
To lose the Reds would be unthinkable but you can bet some bean counter somewhere has got his beady little eye on them. :sad1:
-
we won't lose the Red Arrows - like the Royal Family, they're expensive but the money they generate in tourism for our country outweighs their expense.
RIP to the pilot, and my condolences to the family.

....As it should be. Let's hope the PC crowd don't start bleeting about health and safety!

In the current Military cuts climate and post the Charles Haddon Cave QC inquiry (2006 Nimrod Crash http://www.official-documents.gov.uk/document/hc0809/hc10/1025/1025.pdf (http://www.official-documents.gov.uk/document/hc0809/hc10/1025/1025.pdf)) the Military Aviation Authority (MAA) will look at this seriously. The talk of Dis-banding is hugely somewhat premature, however post the recent 3 incidents, there maybe something amiss with the procedures the RAF RA adhere to.
A safe RA is what we need, and the MAA is mandated to ensure SAFE AS POSSIBLE (with all risks considered and where possible mitigated to as low a level as possible) Military Aviation takes place throughout the world.
So RR the PC crowd/H+S has a place, and in this case a very welcome place.
One of the main points C HC makes is A FAILURE OF LEADERSHIP, CULTURE AND PRIORITIES occured.
Some of C HC Recommendations
I make Recommendations for the creation of a New Military Airworthiness Regime under ten
headings:
A. New Military Airworthiness Authority.
B. Clearly identified Airworthiness ‘Duty Holders’.
C. Proper training in Airworthiness Management and Regulatory skills.
D. Proper system of Mandatory Reporting and Analysis.
E. Single Safety Case and single Risk Management System.
F. New joint independent Accident Investigation process.
G. Readable and concise Airworthiness Regulations.
H. Coherent Flight Safety management across the three Services.
I. Clarification of Integrated Project Team Responsibilities.
J. Restoration of the Chief Engineer.

@ QD:
Yep, my comment was somewhat over-simplified and sweeping. I of course agree wholeheartedly that various official processes and procedures should be applied as you describe in detail. My comment was more aimed at public kneejerk reaction by those outside the RA, MAA, etc.
