Just curious really to see if anyone has took delivery of an ED35 yet? Have they delivered any yet?
I heard it was around November time...
If anyone has, what do you reckon? I'm keen to see pictures and stuff! :happy2:
-
I think we may have seen it if someone had!
-
Nope, but I know of at least one person on here who has one on order
-
Someone needs to buy this...

We have one at work, it's a big big let down, no badges on the rear to tell you it's a ed35....just 2 on the wings, looks like the normal GTI, at first I thought the wheels were really nice....but I thought they looked tacky :signLOL:
Nothing special in my eyes and certainly doesn't mark "35" years in my eyes! :fighting:
-
To be fair though, 35 years isn't really a significant anniversary is it?

I can't see it landing to feb/march time, need to sell the handbag in the mean time
-
Good advert on youtube with the ED 35.Very back to the future with the car ending up in the garage were there making the orginal mk1 GTI.
-
-
I liked the illuminatation of the badge at the front under the grill.

  :laugh:35k !!, you could get an R with every extra on it for that.
-
They've got one at VW Huddersfield. It's sexual.
-
.............nice one. :happy2:

Crazily, I never even thought about that. The R does get my attention, and if I was spending £35K money, then I would have the R with a basic spec and spend £3k on retrofits/mods, and still got a better car for less £ than the ED35. :happy2:

Bringing up an old thread here...
Saw one today in the our VW dealership in Bradford. Its a black 5 door DSG with the optional extra black alloys ()
Its already sold before someone wants to get their hands on it, £31k. It didn't have the same impact on me as when I first spotted an Edition 30 which I had to have. Dont get me wrong it is a nice car but not 'special' enough in my eyes, really like the MK6 and the rear lights and DRL's do look the part.
The optional extra wheels are gash in my opinion.
-
Looked at the very car today and noticed it had sold was not sure about the wheels
-
There is a white 5dr Edition 35 with upgrade 19" alloys at Haylesden VW in Barnsley, the car does look nice, however not nice enough for the price tag.
Do like the headlights though :signLOL:
-
I just don't get this word "special" in the context of a Golf. Has any Golf been truly special? What was special about the Edition 30? New wheels and a bit of colour-coding?
-
Theres a few on the VW website for £25-27k, so cant undestand people buying them at £30k+. Mental.
-
Well this ED35 is a let down. Was seriously thinking of getting one late this year early next if there were any left then having been very impressed with my ED30 . will have to be an R then , don't like 4wd tho.
-

Rallye, yes please  I agree on the ed 30 thing, but owning a car like an ed 30 is special to lots of people, especially these days ( coming from diesel owner :signLOL:) if your into golfs, then the ed30 is up there with the mk1, mk2 IMO
-

Yes. as said the Rallye, Edition one, G60 LTD, Mk1 oettinger 16s, to name a few. And an ordinary Golf is still an aspirational car to many people.
-
I should have said modern Golf. And I mean as an object, not as an ownership proposal. I don't think any modern Golf could be described as special.
I love the Edition 35, and I love my GTI, but they're just very nice cars. IMO of course.
-
Build week 5 for mine so should be here for march
Few bits to procure for it's arrival including some alternative wheels
-
What I mean by special is everything has to be right, I have to like the differences over the car its based on. (Interior and Exterior). When I saw the Edition 30 I said to my mate straight away, I have to have that. Within a week I got one.
The reason I dont think the ED35 is 'special' enough is because of the similarities it has to the ED30. More of a facelift copy for me. With an added few grand.
All in my opinion of course, what do I know anyway I drive a Corsa :signLOL:
What were you doing in there MAT_ED30??
-
driving past and spotted it so nipped in and had a look
-
Had a look at the Candy white Edition 35 in Hayselden VW tonight. Looks very nice with the optional wheels. They should have fitted the Xenons to the Edition 30 as standard as they did with the R32, at least they have got that right this time. Half leather would have been more in keeping, following on from the 30 though.
But whats with only having an RCD310 as standard and no ACC. I think they are having a joke there :booty: :signLOL:

ACC was fitted to this one but as an option.
-
I would stick with the standard alloys, the options look like cheap after market ones to me.

They've certainly proved to be marmite. I love them.
-
The one in Chelmsford VW only had and rcd310 aswell can't remember about the acc, looked good but needed the special seats ad I don't think it had the optional alloys either
-
there are some spec quirks on golf compared to roccos (even the same option is more money on roc)
ticked the rcd510 box as loved it in the rocco and i can say having had a car with acc for over three years its flawed and not worth the money imho and should remain optional
-
Here's some of the pics I took of the metallic red one that was at the DTM's at Brands last year! I love the colour but the brakes look lost in those rims! :signLOL:

^^^ I did like that a lot! Red not usually my preferred choice but that looked lush!
-
wow those brakes do look lost
-
Thats how it should've looked when it arrived in the UK showrooms (but I wouldn't have had them alloys), but we lost the seats for the normal leather and the colour due to Fukashima :sad1:
-
That red would have made it special for me!

Seriously though, there can be no better way of differentiating a special edition than giving it a super sexy, totally individual colour. Take TCs Elise for example.
-
I have not looked at a Mk6 for a long time now, is that lower front bumper for the splitter, individual to the ED35??.

Yep, it's just deeper like the Ed 30s was.
