http://www.jkm.org.uk/performance/shop.htm (http://www.jkm.org.uk/performance/shop.htm)
that cant be good.
-
:scared: wonder what's been going on there?
-
that sucks. never had the pleasure of buying anything off them (due to distance, i'm on the other side of the country) but emailed them a couple of times to ask for their advice - friendly bunch.
hope they get whatever happened sorted.
-
That's a shame. But from a commercial point of view... Spend 3-4k on a new website with a better look and web shop. A company like that cant afford to not do web sales and have a big presence online.
That's only my opinion but they're website should be their biggest shop front never mind that actual workshop

Same here really, too far away for me but enquiries I've made seemed honest helpful and was genuinely friendly. Shame.
-
That stinks :fighting:
I've spoke to them on the phone and via she-mail looking for advice, and also bought stuff from them and their service and knowledge has always been spot-on, so another case of a few spoiling it for the rest of us
-
As above guys. Used them on my last 4 cars and always been spot on. Feckin fraudsters. :fighting: :fighting:
-
Pity. As JPC, online presence is mega-bucks in this day and age so it does need to be ramped up. Whatever fraudulent methods have been used, other companies must have had problems with or encountered in some form or another.
-
Wow, comes to something when a reputable business has to close down a major source of income due to fraud!!! :fighting:
You'd think there would be a foolproof method to eradicate this type of thing by now!!
-
OMG! I can't believe it's happend to JKM of all places. :sad1:
Trying to figure out what's been happening as I thought via the webshop you have to pay before goods are sent out? Hope it's not via PayPal that's caused the problem!!! I've never understood how easy it is to put a PayPal payment "on hold" for investigation when the goods have been shipped already.
I'm still going to use JKM however for the next mod on my car.

The thing is though Nath the criminal fraternity will always have more money and access to better resources than any security vendor or security conscious company. Honest people/companies will continually have to react to whatever devious method they come up with next.
Have used JKM for pretty much all my tuning since I moved to VAG cars in 2007. Always been very helpful and friendly. Not good at all.
Cnuts! (The fraudsters not JKM!!)
-
I'm sure it's something that can be fixed so it cannot happen again. How do the other 50+ online car parts websites manage it?
I hope JKM have not got stung too badly!

Well being "Mr Plod" i can say that this type of crime has gone up and up over recent years and will continue to rise due to lack of security with these types of transactions . I have had friends sell goods to people who want Golf clubs and they have sent three sets to the same person before the credit card company has told him they are fraudulent....he lost about £2k.....and if you know the golf club business thats about the profit on 30 top spec sets of clubs , and he doesn't sell that many sets in a year ! He did admit he was being greedy and did have suspicions but still sent them !
Other victims i have met have sold new motorcycles online to fraudsters who have then sent a courier to collect the bike and has had the motorcycle taken to London ! Same firm got done twice......about £15000
I can continue with tales of woe but it would depress you all ! But as long as we have the set up we have re credit card transactions this crime will continue to rise..........its been going on for years
-
.
That's sad to hear and I wonder what percentage of JKM sales were transacted online. I always avoid all purchasing online and do it on the phone after seeing what's on offer online.

Hello All,
Thank you for your concern and comments.
Most of you know we started as a workshop facility for the VAG Group both in general maintaince and performance upgrades and for the moment that is where our focus will remain. We designed and started a webshop as an additional service for customers that were unable to travel to us. Our webshop was always been an add on to our core business and as such was not classed as a major source of JKM's incomes (thank god). Many other company's see their on line stores as their major source of income however at JKM we perfer face to face contact and our workshop is were the action happens (so to speak) :)
Unfortunately the fraud attacks and dishonest chargebacks that have happened over the year has meant it has all but eradicated the profit from that arm of the business this year. I would rather concernated on improving our workshop facilities and keeping the costs of our core business competitve for our customers.
We may bring this facility back in the future but at the moment need to limit the risk of financial loss.
The recent story is too long, However if you run a small business a word of advice - Do not use PayPal as your online merchant payment partner. The latest incident is an Australian chap who 5 months after signing for £2500 of goods has informed his credit card company he has not recieved them. We have a copy of a signature to prove the goods were signed for at that address but this is not acceptable to the chaps credit card company or PayPal's defence team, who I add, state they are there to defend the seller!!! This certain individual also spend weeks in contact on the phone and email, regarding this purchase and suitability of products for his car.
We will move forward from this and will continue to provide the best customer service and repair knowledge we can to the VAG world.
Kate

Not good, have to say though that it doesn't surprise me it's Paypal- they are hopeless when it comes to defending any seller. :fighting:
-
I think this is a similar problem people on egay are facing. People will claim non-delivery and unless it has tracking info etc they will find things in favour of the buyer. A lot of people don't like Paypal. I prefer it because it means I don't have to look for my wallet when I go on midnight spending sprees.
-
sorry to hear about this, very timely as on the weekend I had my amazon account hacked and some nice person try to spend £800, fortunately amazon security spotted it and stopped the transactions and i'm not out of pocket (just have an account i cannot use), in reality amazon customer service was excellant
for me part of the experience of JKM is speaking to these guys as they know their stuff :happy2:

....Same for me. In fact I'd say that the whole of the experience of speaking to JKM is what I value.
For me, I must have a rapport with the people in every business I deal with. I'm not interested in impersonal relationships.
-
Ditto :happy2:
-
Will not affect how I use JKM at all - quality of work, support and service has always been top notch. Besides - as Robin has said there is still the phone, and it is good to talk :happy2:

It is a sad day really. I have been buying from JKM for almost a year now. all the way from New Zealand. They have always been great with their service and support.
Not that I needed support thou. lol
Kate has been super helpful allowing me one final order from them. THANKS SO MUCH JKM (doubt you can hear me shouting from over here) :P
I guess I will have to start searching for a new supplier now.
-
Very sad and also very worrying
That kind of thing could set us back months of hard work. I'd fight them all the way in court though if I knew the parts had landed and had proof. I am currently working to guard ourselves against this kind of thing.
-
I was recently forced to refund some xenons I sold due to 'damage'
I took photos at buyers request, as expected before sending and there was no damage whatsoever.
Was a loosing battle with PayPal. :fighting: :fighting:
The word of mouth praise of JKM travels far across these comunities so I expect and hope they will be in the game for a long time to come
-
Paypal is like gambling, you don't use it for any more than you're prepared to lose.
I hope it comes good to JKM, every dog has his day. :happy2:
-
Thanks everyone. Means alot
