Hello folks, the saga continues with my car yet again :fighting:
When I picked the car up, I put my foot down, and it hesitated, engine revs fell, then picked up again. The same thing happened this morning aswell, aroung 50mph.
I was at a set of traffic lights today, pulled away, same hestitation, then the engine cut out. Car was stranded for 30 minutes and would not start up at all, then all of a sudden, it fired up, and away it went.
I logged the fault codes as listed below.
I looked at rosstech, and I fitted a new OEM hfpf earlier this year, can follower was fine 2 months ago, I had bought a new low pressure fuel sensor of someone from this site a few months ago, but unfortunately I left my spare on the APR pump when I sold it :fighting:
I did some datalogging, and the fuel pressure is fine, if anything it goes higher than requested?
Has anyone got any ideas as to what it can be, as I dont fancy being stranded at a set of traffic lights for half an hour again!

You must have alot of paitience Dom! :scared:

You must have alot of paitience Dom! :scared:
I haven't, and what I did have is wearing very thin
-
Only extent of my knowledge is its always worth double checking cam follower and the lambda is the pre cat one that's showing fault.
-
Mine showed similar fault codes and I replaced the cam follower and intake manifold runner. Been well ever since.
-
which part is the intake manifold runner? excuse my intelligence!
-
Bloody hell, think our cars are bloody jinxed
-
It is actually a motor on the side of the intake manifold that opens and closes. I am not too tech headed but I knew mine was knackered.

That might help explain :happy2:

Found this for you Dom
There is a TSB for p0087.
Thrust sensor on your HPFP may be bad. Fuel leaks into it and causes incorrect values to be reported.
Do you get the cuts when just cruising along? Car cuts fuel, throws into limp mode? You dont even need to be getting on it?
Do you get stuff like this:
000135 - Fuel Rail/System Pressure: Too Low
P0087 - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - Intermittent
012555 - Low Pressure Fuel regulation: Fuel Pressure Outside Specification
P310B - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded
Check this TSB: 01 07 64 oct. 1, 2007 2016182.
"Due to fuel intrusion into the low pressure side fuel pressure sensor -G410-, a false signal may be sent to the ECM resulting in a reading that is out of tolerance. A false signal may result in illumination of the malfunction indicator lamp and DTC p129F or DTC 310B being stores in fault memory. To fix, replace with the new sensor to aid against fuel intrusion."

Asking the question for diagnosis purposes and because I am lost with where you are at with remaps.
Do you have the genuine OEM map on the car now?
-
Thanks w8, I think I'll look into that one :happy2:
part number: 06E-906-051-K
I only bought one of those in June off H4urdy http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,31474.msg390937.html#msg390937
I think its looking like it might be the cause of the problem to be honest. Wish I had taken it off the APR pump now and saved myself sone £££££s I'll order a new cam follower whilst the pump is off for the 8th time or so  Thanks for the heads up martzini

Yes mate, had a full engine rebuild done the other week, only done 200miles on it, so OEM map on the car until its been run in :sad1:
-
Blocked fuel filter
Sounds similar to one Steve Jr had this week.

Thinking about it, it took half an hour, and countless times to turn the car over, so maybe if there was a blockage, and it eventually worked free, might be why it turned over in the end?
So much for V-Power then.... I never get let the fuel gauge go less than 1/4 of a tank either

The reason I asked was - on our last but one trip to the Ring, markymark had a limp mode (not a Pele problem) problem, throwing very similar codes.
We changed the above sensor in a car park in Kent, and I believe it worked out to be the map. We persevered but ended up leaving the car in Belgium, at a VW dealers.
-
Well i fitted a new pressure sensor, cam follower and fuel filter on order. If I replace all three, hopefully problem will be sorted!
-
fingers, toes crossed this is the end of the problems Dom

I hope so :sad1:
Well it wasn't the sensor, car died again this morning

bloody cars--when i get mine back thinking bout selling it and getting a mk4 r32 i have seen

Wow you car really is something else :sad1:
By the codes it looked certain to be the sensor.

Can you do a check on the in-tank pump?
It may have a fault on that which could be causing your low fuel pressure issue?
-
Can you do a check on the in-tank pump?
Yup, log block 103. Reference value should be around 5 bar although mine is around 4.5 bar at red line but with no ill effects.

I did some logs and the intank pump pressure is fine, I ran basic settings on it aswell.
Hopefully its the fuel filter when it arrives tuesday
My luck struck again at the tyre fitters yesterday, they managed to put the tyres inside out after they balanced them(Vredesteins) then when they refitted them and balanced them again, they managed to chip an inch of paint off the rim with the tyre iron :fighting:
:sad1: :sad1: :sad1:
-
Bit of a drive but you should of came to me Dom,I would of fitted your tyres with out catching your alloys

Get them to pay for a refurb.

Oh well, cam follower, fuel filter were changed, I stuck a remap on aswell just incase it was the shark stock map at fault.
I did some datalogging when I got a few fuel cuts. Think I've narrowed it down to the in tank fuel pump, logs below are quite bad to be honest, first column is the intank fuel pressure, the high pressure logs show practically no fuel at all getting through at points, and I deleted a fair few columns out of the graph aswell. Also still have that massive boost spike, even with the new n75 valve fitted, repair bill now stands at over £3800. milltek downpipe has been sent to milltek for repair, as the machine shop couldnt machine the flange back it was that badly distorted off the bloke that welded it up for me. So no doubt the milltek bill will be pushing the repair bill to close to £4000 :surprised:

Did you sort out the problem in the end?
-
Did you sort out the problem in the end?
Yes he did...
-
It was the intank pump that caused the problem :happy2:
-
Did you replace for oem? Is there an uprated one and would it make any difference if there was...?
-
Several cars on here are using uprated lowside pumps these days. Aftermarket & OEM
-
Is there any benefit?
-
I just uprated the OEM pump. according to the parts bloke, there were quite a few design revisions between the one I bought and the new one, which I think is self explanatory................
-
Sweet... Another thing added to the List of OEM revision parts purchased/fitted for peace of mind... Easy to fit?
-
What's the latest part number and how much are they? Cheers
