Title: How close to stopping?
Post by: AdeMcG on November 12, 2011, 10:15:24 am
Just filled up, and bearing in mind, I had been on Zero miles range for a little while (well about 30 miles) and the total I squeezed into the tank was 58.1 litres.

So, how close to running out was I ? :stupid:

Close but you still had another 4 litres  :P

55litre tank with 7litres reserve, still quite tight, I think I've done 10miles before once it hit zero, but wouldn't do it again

So a gallon left then, 30+ miles  :happy2:

A word of warning!
Do not constantly brim your tank as you may end up needing a new charcoal cannister.

to be honest, with the anti siphon thingy, I am lucky to get anywhere near full to brim as the pump keeps cutting out....can be a right pain in the asss depending on which garage I go to :indifferent:

I've done somewhere between 27-34 miles with 0miles left on the range trip, driving very steadily. You certainly pushed the boundaries with yours

I wouldn't recommend it as a balls tester or for the long term integrity of the engine   :happy2:

? I always fill her RIGHT up, like to spend as little time as possible in fuel stations < this is bad then?

Question < when you highline shows 0 miles left, approx how much fuel is left? is this accurate?

This is what i can't work out. How is it bad to fill the tank to the top?

Integrity of the engine?
Are you referring to perhaps dragging in debris from the bottom of the tank?
I thought there were filters to prevent this?

considering that the pipe from the tank will be at the bottom of the tank (or you'd never empty it lol) i don't buy the debris theory. and yes, there are filters.
