Title: Nightmare fitting new Diverter Valve
Post by: andrewparker on November 12, 2011, 10:48:52 am
Really not having much luck with this car at the moment!

Decided the upgrade the diverter valve to the new D revision this morning. All was going swimmingly until I got to the last bolt. I removed the top one first, then the bottom one. When I came to the third the allen socket is just spinning in the bolt. It looks like it might be 2mm or so from being tight. Really don't know what to do so have just put the bolts back on.

I guess I'm going to have to take it back into the garage, unless there is someone in the Huddersfield area who could help. Mucho beer tokens would be your reward!

Have you had forge or forge spacer in the past.  Take the bolts out and check the lengths.  Not all of the holes are drilled all the way through from memory so the shorter bolts go in the holes that aren't drilled all the way through  :happy2:

Hi Mat, you free tomorrow morning? If I can get replacement bolts this afternoon I'll pop over to yours. And yep, K03. It is the allen bolt head that is worn, so the socket isn't getting any purchase on it.

Bang on! I was saying just that to my wife earlier. For someone like me who has little understanding of the workings of a car this place is priceless.

Massive thank you to Mat for helping me out today. Turns out the old DV didn't look too bad, but I'm happy that I now have the new one fitted.

Has this solved your problem or do you have to see if the light comes back on (mine came on after 50 miles after being reset the 1st time)?

Just have to see. Mat was kind enough to run VCDS on it and the N249 fault came up again, but I've only done 10 miles in the car since we reset it.

Good news!

I have the same N249 fault coming up on mine with a very high frequency.
I have the revision D valve ready to go on and hope to get a chance to fit it next week, keep us updated if this clears your fault!
