Bargain. :signLOL:

That's a lot of profit, not a shock though
-
This would apply to any smartphone not just the iphone you would be naive to think otherwise.
I dont care im happy with my iphone and ive never had a problem with any of them..... fingers crossed.

Not a surprise and Apple undoubtedly add scene tax over and above the normal markup of these products but the article makes no mention of the cost of labour (peanuts probably) or the cost of R&D both of this product and towards the next phone. That probably adds as much again to the real 'cost'.
-
So just parts costs then?
-
Just read the small print - costs about £5 to manufacture ...
-
Like people are saying tho, man hours of software building, licenses , machines that put them together, staff building them, there is more it than just the parts
-
As above, a ridiculous article IMO, typical tabloid BS to sell papers :-)
-
Lol, so no mention of the hundreds of millions that go into R&D or marketing?
-
I remember reading years ago that pepsi or coke costs about 0.5p to manufacture into a can of juice but about 70% of the sale price was the cost of marketing.
Commercial companies in profit making shocker ... :signLOL:

That pretty much sums it up! It seems these days that there is a general hostility to anyone or any company that is successful and makes what "the public" (mostly the media) deem too much money.
-
agree with the above, so what if Apple are making a 400% mark up - people are buying the phones in droves. sounds like they know all about price elasticity and are wringing as much profit out of the device as they can... and that's what they're meant to do! they're a company - they serve no other function than to make a profit!
same with your GTI, do you honestly think it costs VW much more to make one of those than a Fox or it costs Hyundai to make some Korean sh!tbox? not really. but they still charged £20k for it and you still bought one when you could have had something infinitely worse for a lot less money.
you buy a product because you're willing to pay the price and it does what you want it to do. go big or go home.

Anything that says 'daily mail' won't be read by me unless its the print edition and I can find a page to wipe my arse on.

Agree. It's a 100% bullsh*t article. Component costs make up a tiny fraction of the full costs associated with any product. Same logic can be applied to absolutely any tech item.
