Title: re-map
Post by: JASGTI on November 17, 2011, 07:30:09 pm

Just had my 57plate GTI remapped by Mark at http://www.southwestincartech.co.uk/.
He was friendly, helpful and very well priced. They don't offer Stages as he believes in re-mapping the car to the spec that you are running at a set price to each vehicle.
He first did a rolling road to  collect the date from the car and a print out to show pre-mapped  figures.
Then he went in the back room(where the magic happens) and designed a map to suit my car, with a twin take forge turbo hoses, forge dv.
Next the new map was uploaded to the car and another rolling road session, not totally happy with the first results (256.2bhp , 293.1lbf.ft) he went into the back room again and came back out for another go and glad he did, then after 3more runs to make sure it wasn't a fluke we arrived at 265.8 bhp and 305.7lbf.ft. the car drives excellent and returns better MPG than before.
:driver:

All in all a good day out only took 2hours(plus the shopping in Bristol after-wards keep the misses happy :signLOL:)

Defiantly worth a visit and may be a good place for a rolling road day meet in the new year as its just as you get off the motorway(m4)

MAHA LPS3000 rolling road at SWICT

The MAHA LPS 3000 2 Wheel Drive Dynamometer is arguably the best, most accurate automotive performance tester available. It is the choice for many automobile manufactures for development and final testing at the factory, providing repeatable accurate results. Usually within 1%!!

MAHA Dyno

    * Measuring true crankshaft horsepower and torque, No more random power train loss guessing. This dyno measures drivetrain loss during each run cycle.
    * Provides SAE Corrected Horsepower and Torque depending on atmospheric data.
    * Small roller size aids in very accurate power measurements but not so small too be unstable.
    * The Eddy Current brake can measure power up to 850 hp.
    * Direct data acquisition from the OBDII port. RPM, Air/Fuel, Boost, Ignition Timing can be logged and plotted.
    * Special setting for Naturally Aspirated, Turbo and Supercharged cars and trucks.
    * High pressure 10,000 cfm cooling fans for accurate thermal control

Our dyno is available for rolling road days, privateers and corporate use. please use the contact form or call for more info.

It might well be a good place for a RR day, not sure how many people live around here though. Do you have a printout to show us? 265 does seem a little high IMO. Main thing of course is how it drives  :driver:

yeah i will try upload one when i get time. Mark owns a edition30 his self so the map is a mix of his aswell. I will ask about prices for a RR Day then see whos intrested. He goes to the vag meets at longwell green so always around to ask any issuses. It drives lovely you can potter around then when you want it bang the power comes in. I do need a pcv valve tho and you can see this on the graph.

A long time ago a fledgling forum went to Brackley.

Interesting, amusing and enjoyable day.

Ha i see, surely it's down to how the car drives to your driving and if the drivers happy what does a print out matter?? Never mind hey.

I notice they are a Celtic tuning dealer. Was it actually a custom map or a Celtic tuning map?

Exactly but people can get very precious.

265bhp is more like stage 2 turbo back power output.

290-300lbft is easy from a stage1 on stock exhaust if the power is comming in around 3000rpm with an agressive N75 map, then the 5252 dyno rule helps the numbers, ie the earlier the peak torque in the rpm range the greater the peak torque number for less combustion effort.  Its the higher flow that an issue with the stock exhaust and ko3 turbo, 240bhp is a realistic number imo

Your dyno graph is giving 60bhp for transmission losses??  Thats 30% of drive train loss added to the wheel power of 199hp, ( you could have a sticky front brake?)
have you a graph of your stock power run or do you know what it ran stock?

K03 Tfsi I tend to see 225whp works out to around 258-260hp at the fly wheel which is around 15% losses for a 4th or 5th gear run.

But with ALL dynos its a lottery with numbesr, what counts is that your happy with the seat of your pants butt dyno results.   :driver:

Custom but I think he does the Celtic one  aswell

I was looking at those power losses as well, 30% is very high. Our dyno dynamics will see around 228hp at wheels for a 260hp@flywheel car.

I will upload them when I get time, it ran 222.2bhp when I got there. But as you said I love it and I'm the one driving. I also see how people get addicted and very funny over print outs and power before now iv not been that bothered as I had a mapped tdi sport polo and have a mk2 gti 1.9 16v with cams exhaust Ect . That has been enough, Iv now been enlightened into 2.0 t power and dare I say I want More!!

I am happy you posted that, my old Bosch dyno seems to be working well then.   I know my dyno reads 1bhp more and 2lbft than JKM dd.
