I've noticed a slight knocking noise when doing a 3 point turn, or very slow full lock turn in a car park or doing a u-ey. It happens when I am turning the wheel in an anti-clockwise direction.
Does anyone have any experience of this or know what it could be? I don't hear anything in normal driving.
Cheers,
Ian

I get one knock noticied when reversing on full lock.
Im having geometry done soon so may upgrade the topmounts to TTRS / RS3 ones. I have new track rod ends and will soon have new ball joints with TT lower arms.
Ill update when its cured :happy2:

Brilliant, thanks for that, I'm going to get these ordered up tomorrow. Could be a cheap fix!
Looks like the bolts could be an Audi job, the shims are VW apparently.

Ian is yours one knock each time?

Glad to help :happy2: I got the whole lot from Audi, they stock all (well mine did) :drinking:
-
could be top mounts, comman fault?
-
Excuse for RS3 ones
-
Yes Mike, it's once only.
-
Sound similar to the occasional noise I get then
-
Mike, It sounds like you might have the same problem with these bolts stretching, as described previously. I'm going to buy them today and get them fitted next week, so I'll let you know if it does the trick. I do love a cheap fix!
-
I had my Steering Rack replaced under warranty for having the same noise :sad1:
It's quite a common thing apparently.

Thank you mate :notworthy:

My knocking noise is only at slow speeds when i first set off and not on full lock or the usual situations and only started happening after i got coilovers fitted and lowered, getting my top mounts and front bushes changed next week so i'll let you know if it fixes mine :happy2:

Mine doesnt happen every time but am upgrading / replacing top mounts over xmas so will update too :happy2:
-
Figured even if it doesn't solve it completely its a good idea to get them changed and not an expensive place to start
-
Bit more expensive after alignment though
-
Would i be ok running the car for a little while after before getting the allignment done? Don't wanna get it done twice as planning on fitting WALK very soon too

Personally would get it all done at once and get the alignment done. :happy2:
If its out, driving it around will at very least wear tyres unevenly.

Mine got diagnosed today to be the CV joint!
