I've read all the threads on here about Stage 1 remaps, and I've been on all the manufacturers websites, and I reckon I've narrowed it down to Revo, AMD, or Morego (BBR).
I loved the article on the Morego 250
http://www.bbrgti.com/road_tests_item.php?road-test=7
This includes suspension upgrade (£495)
ECU remap & Stainless steel exhaust (£995) 250bhp & 270 lb/ft torque
I'm also very interested in the NQSBBK which seems an option at around £700.
Does anyone have any experience of doing just the AMd or Revo Stage 1 chip alone, with no other mods? They claim the standard car can cope with the extra power and torque, but I'm sceptical.I don't want a huge amount of power. Just great driveability.

I would include Shark Performance in that list. I am currently running an Angel Tuning map, imo its fantastic but Shark will get the honour of taking it to stage 2!
-
REVO all the way for me.
Had an AMD map and wasn't happy with it, when I changed over to REVO I couldn't believe how much better it felt.
-
Never heard of anyone with a Morego remap on here tbh, Im not a revo fanboy (if you havent noticed already )
Id consider APR, PTorque, Shark Performance as well

+1 for REVO :happy2:
-
I am not a Revo Fanboy either (not saying I would never have one, just a would prefer to give others a chance), I would recommend Jabbasport too, one of the best for Mk4 1.8T and now doing a lot on 2.0TFSI too (They have an Ed30 demo car), last i read that was pushing about 370bhp?
I am going to Jabbasport soon for stage 1 :happy2:
-
I'm currently running a shark stage 1 remap :happy2:
Basically, if you are looking to go to stage 2+ revo is the better option.
If youre just going to stick at stage 1, theres not much between them all.
Theres also PDtuning to add to the list of tuners, which I'll be switching back to their stage 2 map I already have when I get my downpipe fixed.
You also have to take into account the price.
Shark, PDTuning, AMD, Ptorque and APR are also a lot cheaper than Revo at stage 1

This thread is quality, he started without knowing which of the three tuning companies to use.
and now we've given him another 4 options to choose from
edit
what about GIAC, R-Tec, RS Tuning for some other otpions
-
R tech.... Good idea!

Added three more in there. In fairness I think they would be happy with any of them tbh.

find someone local, that way if you ever need anything you can just call in. I have loads of customers that pay us £££'s to sort things out that they would probably have had done free if they went back to the tuner that did the work for them.
-
Thanks guys, I know you've thrown a few more spanners into the works, but good feedback for Shark, Jabbasport & Revo in particular.
I think I'll just go with the cheapest, as I'm not planning Stage 2 or Stage 2 plus.
Can I really just go for the re-map at Stage 1 without any mods to suspension, brakes or DV?
-
Yes, although the dv is still worth changing(if it hasn't been already) only £50 from a dealer. Where are you located
-
Thanks for that, I'm in Guildford in Surrey.
-
Thanks PDT, there is a Revo dealer up the road in Hook, so I may go down that route. Great advice, thanks.
