Just had a valve changed at my local quick fit and they have used a rubber replacement will it be ok ? im off on a 300 miles round trip tomorrow if that makes a difference ?
-
nearly all tyre valve are rubber mate so worry not.
-
Just wondered if there was a reason it had metal ones before ?
-
If it had metal ones in then they shouldn't have been removed, and replaced with rubber ones unless.they asked you
-
id cracked it thats why they was replacing it, but didnt check until i got home
-
If you have cracked the metal valve then that's why they put a rubber one in,
-
I know that, but i expected like for like. My question is does it need metal or will rubber be ok ?
-
rubber will be fine, they would normally ask you if you wanted to leave in the metal ones when you buy new tyres. If yours was cracked then that why they changed it, not all fitters carry metal ones, but they both fit the same and do the same job, just the metal ones look better on silver rims.
-
you can buy metal sleeves which slide over rubber valves - try to get stainless ones if possible so they don't rust

when i change tyres at work i leave the metal ones in unless they are faulty--rubber ones are fine but it might look a bit odd with the other two if they have metal valves in
