Hi
My 2005 MK5 GTI just had a minor service at a VAG main dealer. It's just come up to 90,000 miles on the clock and has a full VW service history. It's on the Time and Distance service schedule.
I had the Fixed Price minor service, which is basically just an oil change and inspection, for 129 pounds. However, I have a question regarding the oil used.
I understand from the links here http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,558.0.html that from about 2-3 years ago there has been a directive to all main VAG dealers that they must use Long Life Engine oil for all engines made after 2001. I understand the LLW oil is fully synthetic.
The part number for the oil used on my invoice is:
VZGB 115 QLB 00 40 SYNTA5L
I wondered whether anyone knows whether this is semi-synthetic or fully synthetic oil. I would check with the dealership however it's closed for the day.
Cheers

They should have used ZGB 115 QLB 005 00/01/02 (these last two digits determine the quantity of oil).
From what I can tell, they used 10W-40 (albeit fully synthetic).

Thanks Stealthwolf for the quick reply. I suppose if it is fully synthetic 10w40, I can just about live with it for a few weeks. However, I would want to change to a 5w40 spec pretty quickly!
