Hi guys,
Want to get my damaged Monza's refurbed by WRC on here and made up like Shadows.
Are the inserts a matt or gloss finish and are the genuine ones all diamond cut?
Also, as my car is diamond black pearl will they actually look any good, as in, will the inserts compliment the car or be lost against the black (will search wheel thread now)?

Gloss matey

You won't have to search too far, there's some on my first post!

IMO Shadows are far and away the best looking wheel on a Golf!

My inserts are more like a graphite grey colour. The Mark 6 I test drove the other day had black inserts. Were mine on my mk5 a special edition?

Nope!, your grey insert ones, are the standard Monza II. The shadow ( black inserts ) were brought out for the Mk 6 GTI. :happy2:

no the monza 2 is off the mk5 with the grey inserts and the shadows are off the mk6 and have black inserts :happy2:
**haha beat me to it tc :signLOL:

thanks, so if i have monza II how would they go about refurbing to a monza shadow, would the full wheel be done gloss black and then diamond cut the front silver?
-
Yup.
-
+1
Should n't cost anymore to go from grey to black, its the diamond cutting that costs the money.
-
is there a way to get this kind of finish just by painting rather than diamond cutting? If so what colour would you recommend the 'silver' section done - would it be crome or standard silver? I think the shadows look fantastic but want to avoid the diamond cut to elimate the dreaded white worm.

think will take them down to WRC on sat morning for an estimate but am defo tempted to take this route with them as opposed to Detroit/Huffs
-
I prefer the graphite grey to be honest.

A1 diamond cut mine and used a special Aston Martin Lacquer which is said to be a LOT more durable than the standard BBS /Ronal Lacquer. Had 8 months of abuse (even a couple of small stone chips) and NO WHITEWORM. the lacquer just chips a bit but doenst allow the water underneath :happy2:
Get them done
Theres a thread on here where someone has his wheels done at A1 and they are still great 3 yrs on. . . Nuff said

That looks spot on mate. What is silver colour called that you went for and if you don't mind me asking what kind of price were they - pm me if you'd rather.
Cheers

bit of a story to be honest... the place I had it done wernt up to scratch to be honest and it took them at least 3 attempts to get it right and even then they did them the wrong colour on the face... taken me a while to get used to the darker face as it was supposed to be more of a lighter chrome finish instead of the smoke chrome (havent had the money to have them redone so they have to stay as they are)... but I am getting used to them... reckon they were about £100 a corner

There's a company up in Newcastle (The Wheel Specialist) that can do a chrome effect finish and was thinking of getting that done. Would you be able to post a picture of just one of your wheels as I'll probably take that with me to see if they can do something similar?
Cheers

to be honest that company sounds like the same one I used obviously a different branch... I'm afraid I wouldnt go back... just be sure they know the correct colours and that they can mask off properly, one of the issues they had was that the masking tape would not stick to the powdercoating and moves when they come to spray the faces...

not too long ago after my caliper painting effort
Good luck, all I can say is ask the questions and dont pay for it unless its exactly how you want it...

Thanks mate that's the kind if finish I'm after. I might even go slightly lighter.
Cheers for the advice
