Title: What's my gti worth?
Post by: b21playa on November 29, 2011, 11:45:31 am
Hi all

Considering the miles I do every week, I'm thinking about changing over to diesel power.

Mines a 5dr 2006 06 plate with 80k on the clock, full service history.

Spec:
Pearl black (was waxed not long ago)
Dsg gearbox inc regular oil changes
Monza 2 18" wheels
Xenons
Electric Heated leather interior
Dual climate control
Mfd2 - can change to rns510 for additional cost
iPod cable
Power folding mirrors
Puddle lights
Full mfd display
Wiring for Bluetooth module

Upgrades:
Forge twintercooler
Carbonio intake
Miltek sports cat
Miltek cat back
H&R springs
Drilled/grooved front discs
Stage 2 remap
Dsg gearbox remap
Smd led rear number plate lights
Hard wired road angel

New parts:
new pcv
New divertor valve rev d
Recent oil change
Recent new spark plugs (latest edition)
Recent fuel filter change

Will also include 4 winter tyres if I get a good price

I might have missed some stuff off, so feel free to ask any questions

What can I realistically get for this? Thinking about changing for an a4 Tdi :-(

Thanks

Bit more than £6500 surely?! I know it's done more miles but it's loads of toys and sounds like its been looked after!

Just updated the thread with some more info and a picture.

I might have missed stuff as mentioned before. I could do with cleaning the car and taking some pictures

mine was £7500 trade a few months ago and thats fully specced with 55k

Yours must be £6500-£7000 trade maybe £8k private at a push to someone looking for those mods. but it will be a tough sell this time of year.

Youd be better off stripping it and selling the parts and then selling the car standard

Worth what u payed I'd say, anything between 6500-7500

+1 and then pitch it at £7495.  The mods will put off the more conservative buyers who will assume that the car has been ragged to death...

Rough guesses...

Upgrades:
Forge twintercooler £300
Carbonio intake £200
Miltek sports cat £200
Miltek cat back £250-£300
H&R springs £50-80 ... prob not worth the hassle of changing
Drilled/grooved front discs - keep these
Stage 2 remap - try and get it taken back to stage 1
Dsg gearbox remap - ditch this
Smd led rear number plate lights
Hard wired road angel

Thats an extra grand right there... take a bit off if you want people to give you their old OEM bits.

Standard car (without options taken into account - mods etc.) trades at £5400 - £5750 (see here (https://www.capconnect.co.uk/consumervalues_testing/vauxhall.aspx?CH=U2ETN)). Bear in mind that's trade in prices so you might find a dealer who wants a Golf for the forecourt and thinks it's worth a bit more to him. If he's selling Audis then you might get a decent deal.

Add in the OEM options and it'd put another £1000 on perhaps, and then add in the mods and it'll drop a bit.

As said, drop the mods back to standard and aim high for a private sale, or part ex it and negotiate as hard as you can.

Guys n Gals.....I'm after a GTi.....cash waiting....but am thinking probably manual only please and decent miles on! Must have Xenons and 18's and ideally, 5 doors...can cope with anything else missing!

Lots of GTi's out there....lots (most!) over priced. However, price it fairly and it will sell.....I'm just waiting for the magic car to show up for me!  :happy2:

You might be better off holding to your car and getting more miles out of it.... Unless the diesel you consider is a total banger for 2k the costs of change - selling low and buying high potentially will far outweight the petrol costs in my view. Also the risk involved in finding and buying wrong car etc etc. What's the mileage you're talking??

Easy tiger....just wanted someone to come back to me with a car with realistic pricing. If its any consolation, your car looks great....and if it were manual, you'd have an offer right now!

This question always brings up different views, you have to wonder if the people writing the replies are valuing it as a buyer or seller??

Im in the trade and the only real valuation guide is glasses guide not silly sites online or services you send a text to!

So a 06 5 door with dsg and 58,000 miles is trade £7825 retail is £9325 but yours has done 80,000 miles so mileage adjustment for that is minus £1000.
These prices are for a standard model with NO extra factory options.

Your options would add value to the car even though so many people say it only makes the car easier to sell or more appealing i bet they dont say that when its their car thats up for sale!

If i was a private seller i would check ebay autotrader pistonheads for vehicles of similar age, mileage and spec and gauge the value between them, then price it as close to them as possible.
Just remember one thing though one persons idea of mint or spotless could be miles from another and if a car is priced really really cheap its normally for a reason, either its not a very desirable car/model, they have money problems and need to sell quick or its a rough one/mechanical problems.

Ok, we have a For Sale section so if you do decide you want to sell your car please place it there with all the appropriate information and a price!
