Title: FAO the Golfists among you...Not the VW sort lol
Post by: Matto on November 30, 2011, 01:25:49 pm
I'm basically after a point in the right direction. My dad plays golf and wants something along those lines for Christmas. He said something like balls, tees or a hat I think. I know nothing about golf so wondering whats manufacturers should I be looking at and also if you have any other ideas as to what would make a good present. Looking around the £30 mark.

If you have an American Golf store near you there will be plenty of things in there within budget mate.
Depending how good your dad is I would say you can never have enough balls!

Srixon balls are very popular and would be a good gift, also if you have access to his golf gear check to see whether his glove is wearing thin, that would be a good stocking filler!

Good luck.

I've had a bag of lake balls from American Golf and they were all in excellent condition. I've also bought them as presents.

How about a golf towel?

You'll be spoilt for choice if you go to American Golf!

Thanks for the replies. Have just checked the American Golf website and there is one close by so might pop down one day next week after work and see what they've got.

If your Dad is a regular golfer he will have his preferred ball so don't buy anything thats not the preferred ones as he won't really use them. Does he actually play golf in the rain or is he a fiar weather golfer ? A waterproof baseball cap is a good buy if you can find one. A Good umbrella Titleist make is about £40 , get one which allows wind to pass through it and non metal shaft . A top with half sleeves is also a good buy and they are shower proof and keep out the wind. Also depends on the standard of your dads golf as to what you should be buying him. I am quite good and have never had golf stuff as presents . I'm too fussy !

Tbh I don't actually know how good he is. Only just sort of got back in touch properly within the last year to 18 months or so. I will do some more digging and find out. I know what you mean when it comes to balls. When I looked on that American Golf website there was different types. The ones I'd have probably gone for would be the distance ones.

As Said earlier I would go for a waterproof suit.Possibly lay out a couple more squids but it is an all round present.

You will not get a waterproof suit for £30 ! Galvin Green Suits are around £400......

Galvin green is expensive bt quality stuff, my Galvin polo shirt cost £65 lol.

I use these golf balls and they are great, nice feel to them and they dont mind being hit hard (if your dad is a long hitter), I personally use the yellow variety (much to amusement of my peers!) but I prefer them.
