Plastidip seems popular in the USA.

That is why they like it because it doesn't chip as easily as painted ones. The number of painted badges I've seen that are chipped in some way beggars belief. It then makes the badge look awful. It is okay to paint the rear badge as it doesn't get chipped, but I'd never personally go for painting the front.

I have a painted one - matt black which I laquered and its lasted ok - few touch ups here and there. I did another at the time which is just matt black but I also have the CF one which I have not put on yet.
Paint is a quick and easy method but it wont last a great length of time - but then again doesnt cost much to do.
Method was to sand down to take the shine off and paint, do about 7 or so layers leaving 30-60mins inbetween.

Just did my front VW badge yesterday. Rubbed it down for about 30 seconds with some fairly smooth wet and dry to take the gloss off the chrome, cleaned it with thinners, sprayed it with a coat of plastic primer (halfords) and left it about 60 mins, then a coat of satin black (halfords). Did the same on my previous GTI and it lasted 4 years.

I used some halfords plastic primer and matt black for mine, no laquer as I wanted a matt finish to match the grille.

Yes, poke your fingers into the gaps in the V and W and twist anti clockwise for about an inch or so. You should then be able to wiggle it out.

I'm gonna prize the little fec*er off and spray it at the weekend, but how about the GTI badge on the rear hatch? easy removal?
I'm guessing hot water and lots of patience, which I'm short of!
