My rear lights keep filling with condensation after i wash the car. The o/s one was so bad i had it replaced under warranty, and the new one still does it from time to time, today i have washed the car and the n/s has done the same
Has anybody else had this problem?
-
Not me, sorry
-
me neither , some thing must be wrong with the seals !
-
I just thought it was strange seeing as they put a brand new light in and it did the same! And now its done it on the other side i'm getting pi**ed off :angry015:
-
Are the seals in place on that side?
In Ibizas, its a common problem. When I had mine, I put silica gel bags (y'know, the ones in shoe boxes) in the bulb covers and they trapped all the moisture.

I have the problem on mine.
-
This happens with my brake light...
-
There are no seals on mine whatsoever that i can see and i have had them both off to check, should there be some then?
I did think about putting some of them silica bags in, even thought about drilling 2 small holes at the bottom of each light, don't think it would be noticeable at all and can't see it doing any harm

Aparoon, same thing happend with my ns tail light but it actually filled up with water. Had it replaced under warrantly and the same thing happend again!!! (Could have put goldfish in there!!)
I then took it out myself and put a thin piece of draught excluder around the aperture where you access the the bulbs and also drilled a 2mm hole in the bottom corner.
That was about 12 months ago and I've not had an issue since!!
Hope this helps

Now i do like a strange post from time to time, but this is my fav of the day. :chicken:
First off welcome Silverdart. :happy2:
OK so you took your car in to the dealer and they replaced your darkened rears, for the GTI pinkies.
But to get them changed you need to get on a ferry. Do you live in Alcatraz

This also happened to me, they replaced the light and when i looked at it i could see straight away that it was a gti light, i told them and they were bewildered, the lady came back to me 3 times and told me that the previous owner had changed the lights from standard :embarrassed: i had to take them outside and show them another edition 30. It was sorted eventually and they ordered the ed30 light for the next day.
I am going to take the lights out and try and seal them a little better, think i may need to use less water when rinsing it after washing as i tend to drown it :signIWS:
