After what seems like an eternity, the prodigal young man returns to the stage for which he was born; the world stage.
I have been keeping my head down due to the immensely high level work (cough) I have been involved in with University. However, I recently took time out of my hectic schedule to organise some car pornography for the avid fan.
The GTI on show here is non other than my very own 58 plate Pirelli which as can be seen is feast for the optic senses. Magazines the world over have been scrambling for the vehicle to appear on their front covers.
Performance VW magazine recently described it as “the perfect mix of OEM and owner designed aestheticsâ€Â. Whilst Ultra VW magazine were “enthused†by the performance on tap and “delighted†at the choice of spec. However, I think it was Evo who really summed it up when they concluded that “this is quite possibly the best example of a Mk5 GTI in existence today!â€Â
I am therefore delighted to bring you the pictures that tell the ultimate story of sacrifice and victory!
I can’t claim to take credit for being the photographer; however I am sure it was only by my inspiration behind the lens that helped capture the magnificence of this beast in its wild and natural habitat!
Enough with the pre-amble bant:

After what seems like an eternity, the prodigal young man returns to the stage for which he was born; the world stage.
    i was expecting prince Naseem to be gracing our forum with a lambo.
I might sound rude here, but i was expecting better pics from a professional, a couple of the night time shots are good though.
-
He wasn't a professional, he's my mate doing photography at college, but they're more professional than I could ever do!

yeh i saw that, i think he was generating some excitement. plus they're more than simply going out with my digital camera, so i spose semi-professional!
-
I like the car but not keen on the license plate, understand why its done but it looks odd.

Ah that's what it is, I thought it was a bag that had been blown up and stuck to the grill... :signLOL:
Nice pics by the way... :happy2:
-
That stitching on the steering wheel sure does stand out :signLOL:
-
I can vouch for the fact that the car looks much better in real life - and I'm sure those that have seen it in real life will agree.
With regard to the photos - 80% look professional to me?! All they need is a nice black border around them and no-one would be able to tell the difference!
The numberplate I'll agree looks very lost in those photos - merely due to the fact that it is a big white square in the middle of the photo. In real life, when you can actually see the numbers it does look pretty good. People say that my number plate looks gash where it is (I agree entirely), but i think leaving the front mask black, or carbon in this instance changes the whole front end of the GTI and makes it look superb - and really detracts the eye from the numberplate location.
Nice pics mate, looking forward to the future when the modifications begin! :happy2:
-
Nice shots of the Pirelli there, agree with the square reg, would look better normally positioned with a rectangular plate, maybe shortened or smaller version like Greenouses to still show off the carbon fibre front behind.
Your mate needs lots of practice, im a complete amature at taking pics, but thats the sort of standard i'd get on my own!.Nice write up at the start
-
Looks good pal :happy2:
get the plate in the window and youl be sorted
-
Looks good, as Joe says put the plate in the window :happy2:

"thats the sort of standard i'd get on my own" ................ naaaaaaaah! I assume you're talking about being able to take different angles of your car? Luckily I took the opp to glance at your recent pics, a la here:
http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=266.15 page 2 for the unknowing!
The focus on the pebbles is brilliant from a geographical perspective, and the lack of compensation for the light is impressive!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi154.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fs264%2Fphilmcavity%2F032-1.jpg&hash=244ea4ced877d7ee75d687d2d4bdd519d4c62096)
This photo unfortunately has no perspective in which to view the car given the dodgy angle, and also has the problem of having the entire photo in focus thereby highlighting no particular part of the entire picture.
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi154.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fs264%2Fphilmcavity%2F041.jpg&hash=4e5008863b925819352d69227c23f0f2c728291f)
Again the pebbles are nice, if I was on a beach. Luckily though the sun completely drowns the car. I know what your trying to do, some sort of Michael Bay lens flare, however on this occassion its an epic fail.
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi154.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fs264%2Fphilmcavity%2F053.jpg&hash=3c47f9798a04e2f062417a63687d38c3b6703bb4)
Nice use of shrubbery and the focus on it, the choice of scenery is also appealing...
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi154.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fs264%2Fphilmcavity%2FP1000370.jpg&hash=517701709241ac6d0859eeebfc36659cc1789b5f)
To conclude, it is apparent that you do not get that standard on your todd. Theres no way you can take a photo with your digital camera and think it looks as good as one taken with an SLR, 2 independant flashes and a sh!t load more knowledge!
I guess in the end I shouldn't have really bothered to take the time and effort for all this, thinking people might actually like them, and instead all I get is a load of comments about how gash everything looks, how they weren't taken by David Bailey and how apparently (although obv not the case) everyone else can do better. Yeh, blah blah people have their own opinion, christ i read that enough, and this is a forum where people should type what they think. Iv had plenty of negative thoughts of my own with regards to past threads, ideas etc, but unless someone specifically asks for it I don't tend tell them coz they aren't asking to be lambasted. Well now i'll be piping up with what I think, woooooooooooooooooops!

^^^^^^^
That is f*cking hilarious! :signLOL: :signLOL:
I do agree with what you have said. OK, so a few of the photos are not so good, but the others are fine. Maybe i induced some false expectation earlier by saying that Paul was getting professional photos done, but the photos were taken by someone who is studying photography professionally, and who has a DSLR + various lenses/flashes/enhancements to suit........seems good enough to me!
-
LMFAO!!    :signIWS:
-
-
Fooking hilarious, great rant Paul :signLOL: :signLOL:
-
  I cant ever remember you holding back with your thoughts MR P.
At the end of the day there just opinion's, if we put things up then we have got to expect to be shot at.
I put a white stripe in the seat insert from gulf and stealth sheep came round and torched my house, i offended him that much. :chicken:

-
 :sleepy:
I dont perfess to being a david Bailey paul :sleepy:
Im sorry if you dont like critisism, but your going abit too far by digesting a few quick pics ive taken recently.
Sorry if its touched your bra string which it must of done Paul, but didnt intend to getting such a harsh responce.Perhaps change the way you headed your Post to say some clean pics of your car.
Your mate isnt a professional and youve said hes learning FFS! i have a good SLR cam but dont have a scooby on light bollox crap your waffling about.
From a total novices perspective which i do know, (some) of those pics look Ordinary!!. Same as my pics youve choosen to re-submit.
Perhaps if you cant take anyone saying there thoughts then a public forums not a place to put them for comments.
Im still gobsmacked by your reply.
-
Its ok Phil, maybe I went too far in using your photos, my bad. But I did have a point!
I just wasn't expecting some of the replies, but now I know how its done so I won't be bothered by negative comments any longer, and won't be put off typing my own!
-
Thats fine mate, was shocked at the way you came back with your return fire thats all. perhaps i should of worded my responce better, but was only speaking what i was thinking.
:drinking:

I took it as tongue in cheek to be honest. But I never post scathing comments on anyones car. the licensce plate thing is a preference to be honest, if you buy a jap import car most come with this for instance the EVo it wouldn't put me off buying one
-
I agree about the licence plate - if you could have removed it....
Some of the shots look stunning and definitely contenders for the MKV 2010 calendar (if micsta ever does another one!) but again, the license plate ruins it - even if you'd left the reg in.
My faves are MC2, MC12 and MC19 (I think).
-
I'm too scared to comment on the quality or otherwise of the photography(!) but although I may have missed previous threads can we be told what has been done to the car to make these prestigious publications so enthusiastic??

lol they haven't actually said anything, I merely quoted them to create an auora with regards to the photos.
however, im sure if they had a look over the car, im pretty sure thats what they would publish!

just seen this thread - PMSL :signLOL: , make love - not war :innocent:
