Post by: Banham on December 01, 2011, 08:11:34 pm
Planning on giving my car some winter protection this weekend and i just want to no how to remove this thing because it has been on my car since i have had it in Feb and never tried to remove it. It is by the front passenger door hinge. What could be used to clean it??

Possibly the silicone grease that VW use when they service your car. This will probably have been white at one point.  :surprised:

APC, Glue and Tar remover such as Tardis or if you don't have these try washing up liquid pour it on direct and agitate then use a strong solution of it to wash it. Wipe off what you can with a cloth before starting. Make sure you rinse the area well after.

I will try using washing up liquid because i dont have any of those products but could be added to my collection if the washing liquid doesnt work.
Hopefully it wont be to hard to remove but just to have to how it goes

Thanks for the replies  :happy2:

I managed to get rid of it    it was sticky and i believe it was silicone. Put washing up liquid on it first which removed most of it and broke it up nicely and then i put a tiny bit of white spirit to clean the rest off and now i am left with this which is alot better than what is was before
