Title: Coilover Stance
Post by: Bikerz on December 02, 2011, 12:47:27 pm
This is a daily - Point 1
I cant warrant (afford) air - Point 2

  :signLOL:

Right now that's the facts dealt with I would like some advice. Im probably going to go for 17's and Ideally id like some 9.5" x 17" Rota GTR's.

1. Can you run 9.5" on front?
2. When going low on front how much camber comes in? Should I budget for some adjustable top mounts to get camber back in on the front?  I don't want stupid camber
3. When going low on rear how much camber comes in? Should I budget for some control arms on the rear? I don't want stupid camber
4. What sort of ET's should I be looking at on 7.5", 8", 8.5", 9", 9.5", 10" ?
5. Pics with setups please COIL OVERS ONLY- Wheel specs with tyres etc...

Thank You

1. 9,5” up front will not really be achievable on standard arches - it will be tight on the rear.
2. Coilovers screwed down full give a little camber, enough to wear the inside of the tyre down…….
3. Rear camber is non existent really.  Just sits flush.
4. I ran 8”x18 35mm on 225 40 18 and it was perfect fit sitting flush all-round so it gives you something to work with.
5. http://www.facebook.com/ni.coilovers  pics of mine here…..

Did you come from a civic as the questions you ask are how a honda reacts to slammed!!!

We wont be beaten on price lowerks.com for AP coilovers, FK Automotive, BC Racing and Sachs…..

Cheers

I'll be honest.
I always loved the slammed look, but like you could not afford air.
So I bought some Bilsteins, They got great handling but didn't go low, so I changed to FK's to get low, but the ride was awful, so I changed to AP's, the ride was good, and the height was better, but it just wasn't the same.
By this point I had spent £200 each time getting coilovers fitted, and lost £200 each time I sold my coilovers as they just didn't get what I wanted. That's £1200 with nothing to show for it, So I bit the bullet and got air, there are a lot of companies that do it at a decent price now.
And with the spec you mentioned you won't be satisfied until you get the car slammed imo.
(though 9.5 fronts will probably be a bit too close to drive comfortably)

Bentley fitment sits about flush, which is a good benchmark for this purpose. they are 9J ET41

every increase of 0.5" in width increases the "poke" by 6mm if the offset is the same. similarly, if you increase the ET by 6 every time you go up by 0.5" in width the face of the wheel will remain in the same place i.e. 9.5J ET47 will also sit flush, as will 8.5J ET35.

you have to worry about inner clearance too tho. on my 8J ET44 i have about 25mm of inner clearance. so 9.5J ET47 should fit, but it would be tight...

here's an offset calculator for you:

i'm glad you think so - i've posted it at least half a dozen times in the last month and yet the "what offset" question keeps getting posted lol

i wonder if one of the mods can sticky it somewhere?
